Name: LuKas Nikolaidis, Alias: Kraken
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Faction:Circus People (Civilian? Ends up hanging with the Autobots)
Original Occupation: Data Architect for a multi-million dollar company
Recent Occupations: Retro-vintage styled traveling circus and sideshow performer/barker/PA announcer, casual freelance tattoo artist
Current Ocupation: Resident Pseudo-Hipster and alternative lifestyle representative (unemployed-ish)
Appearance:
Lukas is roughly six and a half feet tall, broad shouldered, and moderately muscular from years of hardy work. He is of Greek bloodline, dark haired, and has sharp blue eyes.
His hair and facial hair style can vary. His hair, rarely gets too long and he tends to keep the sides shorter than the top. Facial hair changes on a whim, beard with a mustache, various kinds of mustaches alone, though usually the retro kind where the ends get waxed up into curls. One day he might pop up clean shaven and start it all over, you never know. Usually, he keeps his look fairly tight, tidy, and trim, though at his intro into the game he would be a bit shaggier and scruffier.
Lukas is also a tattooed and pierced creature. He has an assortment of colorful tattoos, though one of the more eye catching is one on his left forearm. He has stylized octopus tentacles starting at his wrist, all the way around, and curling upwards along his forearm, the longest one drifting just past his elbow. At the wrist, instead of a hard line between ink and skin, the edge is broken up into a bubble pattern that blends into his hand. (Other tattoos will be made note of as I decide what they are). Piercing wise, the obvious ones are his gauged ears, with several other standard sized piercings along the edge of his ears, and a septum nose piercing.
Clothing wise, Lukas has an interesting retro-vintage style, with a touch of hipster. He wears almost exclusively button-up shirts, mostly cotton, though sometimes flannel, oftentimes with sleeves rolled up to the elbow. Pants vary between nice looking slacks and jeans. Seeing him in shorts is a rare thing, and is generally reserved for the most miserable of hot days. Periodically he may wear vests over his shirts along with other accessories such as suspenders, bowties, driving caps, and knit beanies. At his introduction to the game his entire world of clothing and belongings will be carried in a duffel bag, so he won’t have a terribly large variety until he picks up some new things.

History:
The second youngest of six, and from Greek immigrant parents, Lukas’ young life was framed by the rules and routines of proper, affluent, high society. Born and raised in New York City, he was rarely out of the oversight of his parents. They are the breed of parent that had the lives of their children mapped out from the start, and woe unto those who would defy their grand plans.
Not knowing any better along with having been conditioned to not be contrary, and having seen older siblings treated the same way, Lukas followed along with his parent’s demands of him. He muddled on through grade school, doing well but never “good enough” according to his parents, knowing that he was destined for the realm of Information Technology. Lukas could not have been any less interested, but at the same time he had no idea what he would enjoy as he had not been given the chance to discover such things for himself.
Post high school, Lukas attended The Ribaldi Institute of Information Technology for their prestigious information technology program, and while he managed adequately with the classes, and had the intelligence to follow the curriculum and the potential to be quite skilled, it was simply not something he enjoyed. Freshman year, and time away from the oversight relatives lead him to begin to question his family’s practices.
It was by finding other outlets that he enjoyed, that Lukas tolerated working towards a degree and industry he was not fond of. During his freshman year, Lukas discovered the campus radio station and became involved. Under the influence of the school radio team, Lukas found the influence he needed to begin opening up and shaking off the sheltered, introverted and obedient lifestyle his family had molded him into. Through creativity, he began to think for himself, and in terms of his own desires rather than framing all of his thoughts and actions by the desires of his parents.
By his sophomore year he had found his way into hosting his own show for several hours weekend nights, and grew to love the idea of voice work and broadcast radio. Behind the microphone he could open up, express himself, find his inner extrovert, and begin building a whole new personality. He became engaging, charismatic, more open with his thoughts and ideas, and learned how to entertain and be a performer. Behind the microphone he felt like an individual, a unique person, for the first time. Pulling from his Greek heritage, his call sign on the radio became “Kraken”.
The expression of interest to his parents regarding changing his degree path to broadcast media was shot down with aggressive distain. Lukas continued working the radio show without his family’s knowledge.
It was through the friends he made through the station, that Lukas found another creative interest and further exposure to lifestyles outside of the strict socialite rules of the one he grew up in. A tattoo parlor, Inked Badger, owned by the uncle of one of his radio companions, became the frequent after-class hangout. It was here that Lukas saw the possibilities of life beyond what he knew, and saw many sorts of people come through the shop’s door.
Over time, Lukas casually learned about the shop, the equipment, and the trade, taking further interest in the art of tattooing as he went. Lukas found himself stumbling into a tattooing apprenticeship. While he was no grand artist, he proved to have a moderate natural talent, and with the help of a few art courses taken on the sly during summer months at the Savannah College of Art and Design, he honed his artistic talents into something useful. By the end of his senior year of college, he had become skilled enough to begin periodic tattoo work on living, bleeding, bodies.
Lukas ultimately graduated his program hovering just over the middle of the class. Despite their displeasure at their son’s lack of academic excellence, and along with their ignorance of their son’s creative and discretely tattoo-bearing side, they did manage to pull some family strings and obtained Lukas a job. He had never resented “knowing the right people” more than when he had learned he was gainfully employed. Not yet having the gall to openly defy his family, Lukas grudgingly took the job.
Thus, he worked for the Raster Organization for two, long, well paying and utterly boring years as a Data Architect for the high profile, multi-million dollar data storage and backup company. Routinely for those two years, Lukas would make the several hour commute back to the Inked Badger to continue his tattoo work. The rebellion against his family and their ideals was gratifying, and he was unwilling to give up all of the freedom of self he had found during college to fit nicely into his parent’s molded expectations.
Those two years came to an end, when the realization struck that he would never completely be his own person if he continued to bow to his parent’s whims. Lukas handed in his resignation at the end of work hours and took his personal belongings with him.
From here, Lukas upended his life. It was time to live life, have adventure, take risks. He ceased communication with his family, sold most of his belongings, broke the lease on his apartment, regretfully bid farewell to the Inked Badger and his few friends. Then, he found of all things in the world, work traveling with a vintage-style circus and side show.
the clean cut former 9-5’er stuck out like a sore thumb among the cast and crew of Yesterday’s Circus. In those first weeks he was saddled with the obligatory less favorable tasks that come along with the behind the scenes ways of a circus. Lukas learned the finesse of shoveling elephant dung and earned a life-long loathing of emus, while enduring the snide of those who did not think much of the young man, an outsider to their family.
Over time and years, he came to fit in. Friends were made, and he grew close with the circus people he lived and traveled with all days of the year, their influence on him clear. He learned skills and trades with them, and his potential for showmanship was encouraged once it was discovered. His introduction to performing with the circus flashed back to his radio days, he becoming charismatic voice over the sound system, introducing acts and performances under their little tent. As his confidence with performing for a crowd increased, Lukas found himself barking for the sideshow, drawing attention, directing eyes to events.
A handful years after his initial introduction to the circus, he was up on the sideshow stage himself. Coinciding with his turn towards performing, his old radio nickname reappeared as a stage name along with the arrival of his octopus tentacle tattoo, as he preformed such fascinating antics as fire breathing and the consumption of live scorpions for the awe and disgust of the crowd. Wouldn’t his parents just love to see him now.
His transition from lowly grudge worker to performer and announcer was paralleled by the change in his appearance; his tattoo collection grew, piercings happened, facial hair arrived, his stylistic choices became his own, hard work changed his build for the better and for the first time he was honestly happy with himself and his life.
Current times finds Lukas a backpacking wanderer, having taken some time away from his Circus family for want of seeing more of the country outside of the show routes after ten years of traveling. The intention was to travel alone for several months before catching back up with the show, presuming nothing unexpected came up in the meantime.
Personality: Lukas is a two-fold creature. When he is performing either on a stage or through a microphone he can have a lovely charismatic stage presence, is animated, active, outgoing, and engaging. He knows how to appeal to the crowd, draw attention, and make a good show of it.
Outside of performances, Lukas is a calm, moderately quiet sort. He tends to be observant, introspective, thoughtful, and aware of his surroundings. The fact that he was raised among high society and socialites shows in that he has an intelligent, well spoken demeanor, and tends to be polite by default unless someone has crossed him. This is not to say he does not periodically let out strings of blushing-sailor profanity when a situation calls for it. His overall nature seems at odds with his alternative appearance, but he is friendly, approachable, and sociable. He can comfortably enjoy the company of others, though it is also not out of is nature to withdraw to the edges of a social gathering, or to go sit by himself a while.
Lukas was once a meek, sheltered, anxious, apron-strings child as by the will of his parents, but as he shook off their control over his life he grew into his own and found his own identity.
Likes: Living life his own way, good horror movies, bad horror movies, getting tattoos, tattooing people, dreaming of professional radio DJ work, circus and sideshow folk, traveling, performing, seeing where life takes him, rustling his parents jimmies, a good beer, fire breathing, juggling, doodling, the ability to choose family outside of blood relations, having fun, enjoying nature, enjoying peaceful scenery, the contentment of solitude, the company of good friends, sushi, capybaras, classical music, indie music, coffee
Dislikes: His formal education, Information Technology industry jobs, his parents, most of his siblings, stuffy snobby rich people, creepy carnies, overly processed food, hecklers, tofu, people who perv on sideshow performers, biological family gatherings, cleaning up after elephants, emus
Strengths: Lukas is reasonably adaptable to new situations, and incredibly tolerant of the alternative, unusual, and counter-cultural sorts of society. Living with a traveling circus and encountering all sorts might have something to do with that.
Weaknesses: It has been so long since he did more than run a defrag, build a simple excel database, or fish malware out of someone’s laptop, that while he was pretty good ten years ago his information technology skills are out of date and rusty. He could catch up with some google-fu and effort, but he does not have much drive to do so.
Special skills: Fire breathing, juggling, permanently stabbing ink into people’s skin, prying malware off of your computer, eating live scorpions.
