The thing about Carbine, the thing Thundercloud somehow always forgot whenever they got scrappy with each other, was that he and Bolo were a packaged deal. Not just in the symbiotic sense, of course they were two halves of the same whole - you never saw one without the other, because at the end of the day they were both part of the same, two-bodied entity that was CarbineAndBolo.
No, what Thundercloud always forgot was that even while Carbine was laid out on his ass, Bolo was still more than capable of jumping into the fray and blindsiding him when he was too busy shaking out the post-punch stiffness in his hand to look up and see the toothy projectile hurtling towards him at eighty miles an hour.
Bolo's teeth sunk solidly into his forearm, causing Thundercloud to stumble backwards, then forward as the angry dog scrabbled against the ground, trying to drag him into the dirt. It was difficult, catching his balance in time to plant his feet and dig his heels in before that very thing happened, but somehow he managed. Thankfully, he had a few thousand pounds on Bolo, so once he was firmly rooted once more, he didn't have to worry much about being dragged around like a ragdoll.
Bolo, on the other hand -
Thundercloud made a disgruntled sound in the back of his throat, his wings drooping as he dragged his free hand over his face, then gave Bolo an unhappy look.
"Aw, come on buddy, I ain't pissed at you." He said, as if that would somehow mollify the dog's anger.
Predictably, it didn't, and Thundercloud heaved out a heavy sigh. Damn it all, he hated it whenCarbine CarbineAndBolo Bolo was mad at him. He really did. It made him feel like such a slaglord.
In a single, practiced motion, Thundercloud lifted his arm - and Bolo with it - hauling the poor irate pooch off the ground and into the air where he wouldn't be able to dig his heels in and yank. He made a point to keep his arm as far away from his body as he could, knowing full well the dog would use his own body for leverage if given the slightest opportunity. It took months for the claw-marks Bolo kicked into his side to disappear, the last time he and Carbine got into things like this, and Thundercloud really wasn't looking forward to repeating the experience.
With his free hand he reached towards Bolo's head, intent on trying to pry his jaws apart, but before he could make contact the Femme's voice broke through the air and gave him pause. He stopped short, turning quickly to look at their sort-of-prisoner with a tellingly surprised expression - it wasn't difficult to figure out that he had, until this moment, completely forgotten she was even there.
"What? You crazy or somethin', lady? Why the hell would would I--" Before finishing that sentence, a thought occurred to Thundercloud, and a look of dawning realization passed over his face. He snorted, amused, then gave his arm a little wave, swaying Bolo to and fro in demonstration.
"Pff. Don't have a spark-attack, he ain't hurtin' me any." He said lightly, before looking to Bolo and flashing a friendly smile. "Ain't that right, you little monster?"
