Name/Alias: Raditz
-Character Info-
Name: Airlia
Age (or human equivalent): Late 20’s mentally.
Gender (or human equivalent): Femme
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticon
Original Occupation: Ornament/Status Symbol
Occupation/Specialization: Shield Generator (Adult Supervision for Femmes with No Sense)
Appearance/Altmode:
An avian-style cassette, Airlia differs from conventional body types in a longer, more arching neck and heavier set body, with thin overlapping plates of smooth glossy black armor that is more show than anything else. To human perceptions she comes off as being very swan-esque, the waterfowl look accentuated by her rounded bill more suited to object manipulation and probing than tearing. The primary ‘feathers’ of her wings are directly attached to the main wing framing, making them more durable than those electromagnetically held in place, and under the secondaries she has anti-gravs installed to allow her to actually get airborne. When her wings are folded the anti-gravs are not visible. The Decepticon Symbol is visible on her neck, just above her chest plating. She is, when standing tall with her neck erect, as tall as the bottom of Megatron's pelvic girdle. That's a loooong neck, though.
History:
Airlia was commissioned by a most wealthy and bored Tower mech named Guillotine for the purpose of looking pretty enough to emphasize how awesome he was, and keeping plebians from daring to invade his personal space during parties. Graceful, with smooth lines, she was considered a very exotic pet/servant, and was reasonably content with her lot in life. At least, until the newest, shiniest model came on the market, and replaced her.
Suddenly unwanted and deemed ‘unnecessary’ Airlia quickly found herself discarded by her master in the most literal way, ending up at the dump with the rest of the refuse. The learning curve of not-dying or starving was a steep one, and while she managed to keep away from the Empties and out of the compactors, it wasn’t without cost. It was a broken and hungry swan cassette that Roulette found while hunting for a gift for her sister.
Broken, but not without her dignity and pride. It wasn’t charity that had the cassette accompanying Roulette out of the dump and to Kaon, but the opportunity to find purpose again. That escaping Iacon with the femme led to no shortage of shenanigans, including fleeing from the Enforcers, negotiating with border jumpers, buying back alley repairs and an arrest warrant for Roulette, cemented in her mind that yes, she needed to follow Rou and keep her safe to repay the consideration shown. If Roulette can manage to get in that much trouble just getting from one city-state to another, she certainly needed the supervision.
However once back at their bar in Kaon, at Roulette’s request, Airlia instead attached herself to her sister Shadow Striker. The other sister was much more activisty, her leanings towards rebellion and revolution making her much more in need of a protective presence and literal shield. Back alley upgrades, illegal but effective, upped the swan’s ability to form proper force fields, and provided her with some manner of offensive weapon in the form of wing blades. The times were changing, and even an ornament couldn’t be allowed to continue on being defenseless. Not if she wanted to continue the business of living.
When Shadow Striker decided to join the Decepticons, and Roulette left for the Autobots, Airlia chose to remain by Shadow’s side, loyal to her rather than the cause. Not that the Decepticons didn’t have a point, one that resonated with the once-discarded cassette. But she is one to follow individuals, not factions. When an injury left her temporarily sidelined, and during that lapse Shadow Striker managed to get herself killed by the Wreckers, Airlia was faced with a choice. She could continue on, angry at the loss of her master and using that anger to fuel the Decepticon cause. She wouldn’t be the first with a vendetta to be fulfilled. Instead, she went AWOL, hunting down the only other Cybertronian worth aligning herself to in her eyes; Roulette.
Every lead within the Autobots was pursued, every squadron that even hinted at possibly having a femme fitting her description relentlessly hunted down. And yet word that Roulette had defected to the very Decepticons Airlia had left never managed to trickle back to the poor cassette in the course of her self imposed mission. Possibly because Roulette remained on Cybertron with Shockwave’s forces, and she’d left the dying planet chasing Autobots.
Across the cosmos she searched, hunting dead leads, stowing away on ships and escape pods, her travels bringing her to the latest bastion of the Autobots; Earth.
Personality: Stoic and laconic, Airlia is not the cassette to have much of a conversation with. She will speak if she needs to, but she prefers to observe the world around her, and influence it without the crutch of babbling endlessly. As such, her speech patterns are very stilted, and sort of awkward. She is very serious about her work, and while she does possess a bit of a sense of humor, what she finds amusing isn’t always evident. She is also entirely loyal to those who have earned that loyalty, and will not hesitate to do what is necessary to protect her master, even at the cost of her own life.
Likes: Admiration, A job well done, Candies
Dislikes: Filth, Inappropriate attentions on her master, Separation
Strengths/Weapons:
Energy Shielding: Airlia can generate energy shields, ranging from a bubble just large enough to hold herself to a ‘wall’ shield large enough to protect a mech Ratchet’s size if he crouched a bit.
Bladed Wings: The primary ‘feathers’ on her wings are reinforced and sharpened for buffeting people with. Against even average armor they won’t do much damage, but against more vulnerable areas such as joints, and faces they are reasonably formidable.
Weaknesses:
Limited Energy: Use of the energy shield is taxing, and being small framed limits how much energy Airlia has available at any one time. Maintaining a small bubble shield strong enough to deflect casual touching is easy enough, and can be maintained for the length of the average Noble’s party, but the larger the shield, and the more it has to block the less time it can be maintained. With a wall shield large enough to shield a mech Roulette’s size, under heavy fire with solid core projectiles the upper limits she can hold it is about ten minutes. Drop something of substantial weight on a bubble shield, and let it rest there, and she can only maintain it for a few minutes at maximum. Deflecting actual projectiles takes more energy than deflecting energy shot. If docked, she can rely on her carrier’s own energy to bolster her shield, and can maintain a shield substantially bigger and/or longer.
One Way Stream: Like most shields, the one Airlia generates does not allow matter to pass through it, either coming in or going out. This means that if she is shielding someone, they cannot return fire through the barrier. She can alter the shape of her shield to some degree, say to let the muzzle of a gun poke through, but this vastly compromises the structural integrity of the shield whole.
Physical Size: Cassettes are not the largest things, and Airlia certainly does not buck this trend. She is limited in any offensive she can make by being small and lacking mass. A football punt from a larger mech is going to send her flying in the worst way.
Tinfoil Armor: Airlia was designed to look pretty, not participate in anything as boorish as brawling. As such, her armor is very light, and cannot hold up to much abuse. Some portions have been reinforced a bit, such as her chest plating and wing struts, but otherwise she’s painfully dentable.
Special skills: When not generating a shield, and docked, her carrier can access her energy like a spare battery for whatever is necessary. There is a cutoff for power draw at around 25%, just as a self preservation measure.
Extra Info: Pretty cassette is pretty, and a bit vain about it. She’ll probably make good friends with Knockout’s buffer.
