Character Info
Name: Deuce
Age: Human equivalent would be late thirties to early forties
Gender: Male
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Neutral
Occupation/Specialization: Information broker/ journalist
Appearance/Altmode: Deuce is a tall robot, roughly Starscream's height. He is broad across the shoulders thanks to the wings and fins of his alternate mode, but for the most part his build is a lanky one, not to mention scuffed and scarred. His paint scheme is predominantly grey and black, with orange accents - his optics are also orange. He transforms into an F-16C Falcon.
History: Largely unknown. He was constructed before the war, possibly during the Golden Age. His original function during the caste era is also unknown, although he likely worked as an information broker of some kind. What is known is that he was a vocal opponent of Functionalism and the caste system, and that he published a good deal of underground literature denouncing both. Unsurprisingly, he 'disappeared' shortly after the Clampdown.
If Deuce played a role during the war, there is no record of just what role it was. Odds are he remained neutral during the worst of the conflict. It was only after the Exodus that he reappeared again, this time working as a deep-space journalist for an unknown publication - a cynical mech with no desire to return to the home planet he now despises. He claims he is on Earth only to record what became of the scattered Autobot and Decepticon forces after Cybertron was abandoned, working from his hidden dropship.
The name 'Deuce' is an alias. If pressed, he will not speak about what happened to him during the millions of years he went missing. He no longer identifies himself as a Neutral and would gladly cast off his Cybertronian citizenship if he didn't need something to put on his passport.
Personality: Smooth as glass and unflinchingly insincere, Deuce is a fast-talking double dealer with lingo to spare and a hair-trigger temper. Frequently arrogant, undeniably self-centred, he seems to care little for others beyond their ability to deliver interesting or valuable information. Deuce does not apologize for his faults and calmly accepts his lack of better qualities. That said, there is a chance that beneath his sardonic nature and impatient, Wall Street trader attitude there might still exist the world-weary remains of a kind heart. Alas, beneath that is underground parking.
Among friends he is more relaxed and good-humoured, though secretive. When he is on a case, however, he's all business. Deuce is fearless when in pursuit of a story and contemptuous of those who might try to dissuade him from chasing one by means of intimidation or force. He hates the war and wants nothing more to do with Cybertron, save possibly to torch it. He has embraced the greater universe instead, and lives to explore.
Likes: Earth. Humans. Music. Politics. Talking. Swearing. Drinking on a beach. Lava lamps. Really fast star cruisers and really fast girls. Tinkering with cool technology and neat gadgets. Physics. Travelling the universe. Visiting new planets and getting into fights with their customs officials.
Dislikes: Autobots, Decepticons, and Neutrals in general. Cybertron. The war. The colour red. Small, dark places. Bullies and braggarts. Pretentious pseudo-intellectuals. Being shot at. Spiders.
Strengths: Intelligent and bold. A social chameleon, comfortable with making himself at home in any foreign culture. Picks up languages and dialects fluidly. An experienced galaxy-trotter. A crack shot with the pistol he keeps holstered in his hip plating. An excellent flier. Tech-savvy, and capable of repairing or modifying small devices in a pinch.
Weaknesses: Far too confident for his own good. Tends to under-appreciate everything he comes into contact with, right up to the point it starts trying to kill him. Very nosy. Very claustrophobic. A civilian-class model, neither designed nor trained to be a combatant. Lightly armoured. His pistol is concealable but does not inflict heavy damage. As a jet he is completely unarmed.
Special skills: Deuce is modified with a short-range teleportation drive that allows him to teleport rapidly and efficiently within a two mile radius. For distances greater than that the drive has a projected accuracy of 0.4% to 8%, making it prohibitively dangerous to use. It is key-coded to his spark frequency alone, meaning he is incapable of teleporting another Cybertronian with him. He mostly uses it to sidle away from trouble and to mess with people.
Extra Info: When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
