<<After the Fallen warship explodes everywhere>>
The plan had ended in catastrophy. What should have been an effortless victory, with the Autobots destroyed from their fuel lines out without any possible hope of escape, had instead seen the Fallen warship utterly destroyed
And Barricade was still missing, not dead but far from able to move himself.
The infiltrator had been severely harmed - Megatron had no doubt of it. Their new sparkbond was still maturing, and far from strong enough to get a clear read on Barricade from across any distance, but he had felt the attack. The hot tearing, circuit-deep agony as the culprits stripped and clawed; experienced in the warlord’s mind as only an echo, but he had no doubt of the degree of trauma.
Hours after the last of the Decepticon casualties had been brought back to the Nemesis for salvage, the two Eradicons Megatron had left on the bridge to scan for Barricade had still found no sign. Megatron knew that in the near future the sparkbond would allow him to find his sparkmate through pure instinct, but for now, he could only sense that Barricade was alive. And barely, drawing off his own spark to cling to the very edge of the Well.
For now, he’d have to be retrieved the old-fashioned way. Megatron wanted to know which of the Autobots had scrapped the precious morals and ethics of the banner that Prime had been flying since the beginning to completely scupper his victory - attacking his sparkmate to the brink of death. They were going to wish for death when he was through with them, and it would still be long coming.
As on every other occasion when ‘certain’ victory had been undermined, Megatron prowled the command deck and the skeletal crew that had drawn the short straws in manning it. Soundwave was wisely absent, as were most of the Eradicons. Starscream’s footfalls, normally so controlled and light, were comparatively deafening as he stepped onto the decking in answer to his summons.
To say Megatron was mad would be an understatement. Much like saying water was wet and Seekers loved the sky. For this reason Starscream had tried to avoid Megatron until he would be in a little better mood at least. Starscream had been using shadows to move from one place to another when he knew Megatron was around. Starscream was doing his best to keep control on the ship and order also while not being able to go to Megatron if called. It had worked before and Starscream hoped it would again. It was not to be.
Megatron had called Starscream and had orders for him. He could only hope it was not one of those “go scrap yourself because I want someone worst off than me.” The chances however were high it was. Starscream was never sure if it was the fact he would soon be telling Megatron all the ways he should have done this or that and could have done this better or if it was just the two always saw differently on everything. It made the work harder but also much more fun. Challenges would be welcome always. Some challenges however would be best to avoid if it could be done. This was one.
Keeping the wings back and EM field muted as much as Starscream could he went before Megatron. “Yes Lord Megatron?” Best to say as little as possible. Starscream was as far back as he could be and still be in the area he should within reason. The most annoying part was this was Barricade’s idea, ship, his plan, and his failure, he should be here and take the anger but no Cade was missing. AGAIN. Slagger.
Megatron’s field was a black miasma of simmering rage, crawling with hateful frustration and a sincere want to destroy something. Preferably an Autobot, but right now he wasn’t going to be picky. Just something living and screaming and gushing fluids as it was wrenched apart in his bare hands. He cast the mental image aside, fixing his attention wholly on his cowering wing commander.
“Starscream, as you’ve already possessed enough sense to stay out of my way, you will be grateful for orders to take you off the ship.” His optics narrowed, daring. “Won’t you?”
Starscream controlled his wings and kept them from shifting too much to his back. Megatron’s optics told a story of violent dreams. Not something the Seeker wanted to know about. However at Megatron’s words the wings did drop a fraction. It was a question with no right answer. Either way he would find Megaton’s wrath.
And yet…
“I am grateful to be of help to you Lord Megatron.” That should keep most the trouble away. There would still be some. With Megatron even in a good mood trouble came knocking.
A grunt of an engine rev and Megatron smirked, beckoning Starscream closer with a flick of his talons. “Of course you are.” The dark amusement fled his field as quickly as it had entered it. “I have been cheated of certain victory, and my Infiltrator is missing. No doubt there is a link between the two."
Rage flared out from his spark again, and Megatron turned his back on the Seeker and took a step away so as to reduce the odds of him tearing the mech’s head off on impulse alone. He’d felt the attack, the brutality and all-consuming pain of it against his sparkmate’s own shattered emotions along the bond. Barricade was not dead, though, their joined sparks sharing enough stubborn strength that a death was reduced to stasis lock. “Find me my Infiltrator, Starscream, and return him here.”
Being sure to hide the jerk of worry at being called closer Starscream only took a step to the warlord with a half bow. At least Megaton had been amused for a short time. Starscream almost asked how he was to know who attacked the scrap for a processor or Barricade. But held the thought before it could come out. It showed how much Starscream had learned over the cycles that he could stop a thought before he said it.
It seemed all the better Starscream had stopped the vocalization as Megaton seemed very upset, more than normal for just a warrior. Interesting. Starscream make sure to keep up with what Megaton said and how he moved and where. Megaton seemed to be suffering more and more from space madness every time he saw him.
“Yes Lord Megatron.” Starscream was glad to be able to leave. He was sure he would have been leaving with some damage. Now to find the junk pile and dump him with Megaton. Giving Megaton a half bow Starscream turned to leave and find the missing infiltrator.
