Gender: Mech
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Autobots
Original Occupation: Police Officer/Criminal Investigator
Occupation/Specialization: Military Strategist/Interrogator
Appearance:
Standing two feet taller than Smokescreen, Prowl sits on the average scale for most mechs. Well armored chest, shoulders, and shin plates colored white and black cover a gray protoform, though the joints are relatively exposed. Alt-form doors are fitted to his back almost like a seeker's wings. Features red horns on his forehead. Missile launcher fitted to each shoulder. Autobot symbol is colored black inside a white star on his chest plate. Armor plates are rounded and sleek in appearance. His optics are covered by a yellow visor but underneath that they are a cobalt blue. (Appearance)
Altmode: Black and white Ford Taurus Police Interceptor decked out in full police patrol car livery with lights, sirens, and a push bar on the front over the grill. The Autobot symbol replaces the Ford logo on the front grill.
Pertinent History:
Prowl was forged in the city of Praxus during the Golden Age of Cybertron, being brought online to serve as a part of the Enforcer Caste, specifically as a criminal investigator. Being at the top of his training class ended up netting Prowl a transfer to Iacon soon after coming online. Originally partnered with the stern, inflexible investigator Lockstep, Prowl learned the necessity of rules, order, and regulations. Unfortunately, this exposed him to the pro-caste way of thinking, coloring his impressions of what proper Cybertronian society would be for melania. A society where everyone had their function, and nothing disrupted the order of things. His job was to protect the citizens of Cybertron, and he decided that the best way of doing that would be to preserve the order of things, and he was pleased to be of service.
But things began to disquiet him on the inside. It started with the questions being asked by a gladiator from the pits of Kaon named Megatronus. At first, he just chalked it up to malcontents and disgruntled mechs who wanted power. But as he stopped to listen, he could not help but begin to agree with some of mech’s radical ideas. This inevitably brought him into conflict with his partner, Lockstep. The two were already on the outs over Prowl's idealistic attempts at exposing some of the corruption going on behind the scenes in the Enforcement division, and this just proved to be the final straw which led to a violent confrontation between the two. Prowl was blamed for the incident and transferred to notorious Dead End of Iacon, widely considered to be a death sentence.
Prowl ended up being partnered with Speedtrap, a young but street savy femme patrol officer. She was an idealist goodie two shoes, helping Prowl to get back in the game and let go of most of his anger against Lockstep. He began to throw himself into his new position, finding he enjoyed his more hands on approach instead of hiding behind a desk as just an investigator. Sharing both his desire to protect and serve, while at the same time recognizing the system they served was becoming corrupted, the two became very close.
As things progressed in the political sphere on their homeworld, Prowl began to worry about what was going on. With an increase in terrorist activity attributed to the Decepticons, his detective instincts began to emerge again. He began to go against normal protocol, conducting his own investigations outside of the official chain of command and sympathized with Orion Pax’s Autobots. During this time though, he asked Speedtrap to become his Conjunx Endura, which she accepted.
Shortly after this, tragedy struck them. While on patrol, a bomb detonated in a civilian energon dining establishment near them. Speedtrap ran inside to save civilians with Prowl right behind her, but secondary explosions detonated the rest of the energon inside, blowing up in his face and killing Speedtrap instantly.
With Prowl losing the one person he cared about, he sought out and joined Optimus Prime’s Autobot forces, determining to protect anyone else from suffering as he had, he needed to join the growing conflict. However, losing someone close to him had the effect of closing him off from other bots. He ended up throwing himself into his work and adopting a cold, calculating persona to avoid hurting like he did earlier.
Due to his previous work as an investigator, he displayed an aptitude for tactical and strategic planning. He ended up rising in the ranks to become a key strategist and tactical commander, as well as a respected fighter in Optimus Prime’s command. But this position earned him a reputation as someone who was more willing to make sacrifices than others. He became somewhat of a pariah among other Autobots, even though Optimus Prime publicly expressed his trust in the mech. This led to a feeling of apathy towards most others, except those who earned his trust. Which, sufficeth to say, is a very short list.
But despite his best efforts, the war was eventually lost for the Autobots on Cybertron. When the Exodus was announced, Prowl was supposed to join Optimus Prime on the Ark and head for Earth, but due to a Decepticon surprise attack he was unable to make the launch while he was preparing a final defense plan for the rest of the Autobots to hold off the Decepticons and escape. Prowl eventually took advantage of this secondary option, finding a small long range shuttle craft and escaping from Cybertron.
Having picked up Optimus’ signal to Autobot survivors and the order to gather to Earth, he's determined to continue the fight, no matter what the cost. He made arrangements with the Ferryman, Kamal, trading his shuttle to provide the necessary energon payment.
Personality:
His losing an individual who was about to become his sparkmate, and his time during the war has led to him closing off most interpersonal relationships, never allowing most bots to get to know him too personally. Therefore, he remains somewhat a mystery to his comrades. A long time at war and as a cop narrowed his vision to the point where he doesn’t see the names, just the numbers. He’s always looking ahead, trying to see the big picture, figure out the best way to win, even if it means sacrificing many lives. He would live by the saying “The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.”
Prowl respects the rules a great deal, and views them as an essential part of any society. However, he learned through the hard way that rules could end up being shackles which held the good guys back when the bad guys abused them. As such, he can bend and sometimes break the rules when he views it as necessary. He’s deathly loyal to the Autobot cause, willing to sacrifice anything or anyone for it, including himself. However, he does not trust anyone right off the bat, period! While this usually ends up helping the team out sometimes, it causes him to have very few friends. As a result, most bots treat him with an amount of either disdain or irritation. Efficiency is key for him, so he does his utmost to make sure every action is precise, every shot worth it. He will not make a move he considers a waste of motion or resources.
Likes:
Order: Everything needs to have a purpose, and must be in place to Prowl’s liking.
Autobots: Enough said.
Chess: Upon arrival on Earth, he discovered the human game of kings and found he instantly liked it’s strategy style.
Professionalism: He’s a professional, and thus he conducts himself accordingly. He expects everyone else around him to conduct themselves the same way, and is noticeably irritated when that’s not the case.
Staying Busy: He’s always finding something to do, whether it’s training, cleaning his room, or studying battle tactics.
Dislikes:
Chaos: The source from which all the pain and suffering emerge. As an agent of order, he stands against it.
Laziness: The root of chaos. A busy, productive mind has no chance to fall into evil tendencies.
Decepticons: Enough said.
Secrets: Well, secrets kept from him anyway.
Politics: An essential part of life, but it doesn’t mean he has to like it!
Strengths/Weapons:
Feel Lucky, Do You Punk?: Capable of shifting his arms into medium grade single barrel energon cannons. The weapons power is police grade, able to punch through medium grade armor.
Excessive Force: Twin missile launchers, one fitted to each shoulder. Modification happened during the war, capable of a range of twenty five miles. Requires lock on prior to firing, but stays locked onto target after launch and can change directions slightly in flight. Carries two missiles at a time.
Investigator’s Special: Prowl can fire a pair of taser probes from his hands, using the pointer and middle fingers which magnetically attach to the target, momentarily stun them and allowing for capture and detainment. Repeated shocks will send target into stasis lock. However, effectiveness is changed by target size and armor. Smaller and lighter armored targets go down for twenty minutes, but are harder to hit. Whereas larger and more heavily armored targets go down for about five minutes, though are easier to hit usually. Range is limited to twenty yards.
Takedown: Very capable hand to hand combatant, Prowl specializes in subduing opponents via grappling and joint locks, as well as lethal methods learned during the war.
Pull Over!: Time as a police officer taught Prowl how to end a high speed pursuit in vehicle mode, including options such as the pit maneuver enabling him to put a target vehicle into a tailspin.
The Will to Act: Even before the war, Prowl has been trained for multiple types of high stress/high threat scenarios. Thus, he is conditioned to respond when a threat is present, instead of freezing up.
Battlemaster: Prowl is a master strategist, having been Optimus Prime’s chief strategic advisor over the course of the war. He is quick thinking and able to come up with a plan on the fly, in the heat of battle.
Weaknesses:
Not There, Not There!: While Prowl’s major systems are protected by medium grade armor plating, his limbs are pretty exposed to attack. While most opponents never get much of a shot, if hit there it could be catastrophic.
Essential Digits: Prowl’s pointer and middle fingers are especially sensitive since they’re where he fires his taser probes from. If someone were to yank hard on the taser line, it could cause massive pain there, enough to distract him.
Easily Fooled: Prowl’s missiles are susceptible to jamming and other electronic countermeasures, sending them off course or faking them into exploding early, possibly at too close of a range.
Why Didn’t That Work?: Despite being a master strategist, and having extensive training to combat this, there are times when one of Prowl’s strategies doesn't work and he’s left confused or dazed, unable to comprehend why the plan or tactic failed. Usually he’s able to push through it on the battlefield but back at base he’ll isolate himself until he knows why.
Workaholic: He does not know the meaning of the word relax. While this can be beneficial, he could end up running himself into the ground if not stopped by someone he respects, such as Optimus himself.
Does Not Suffer Fools: Prowl is usually pretty patient, but does not appreciate it when someone refuses to take something seriously, especially if said individual is a repeat offender. Such behavior can push him over the edge, making working in a team difficult at times.
Special Skills:
Detective Mode: Prowl is a former police officer, skilled in investigation. He’s also able see the bigger picture and pick up on details most might have missed. This extends to being able to do forensic work on a site, determining details such as ammunition used by studying damage and how it hit.
Run You Down: Prowl is able to keep chasing a target for a long time, both in bot mode and in vehicle mode. He's also able to push himself in both forms in a sprint type of motion, able to try and close the distance rapidly, though this will exhaust him at a faster rate.
Tell Me What I Want to Know: Though he does not use this skill much anymore, Prowl is adept in the fine art of interrogation, and willing to use certain practices to gain information that is necessary for the Autobot cause. Though the last part he will run by the higher up before using it.
Holomatter Avatar: Prowl can project a holomatter avatar into his vehicle interior, the image being a clean shaven police officer.
