"I do not require your respect." The words were as blunt as they were honest.
She did not grace Rain's insults with a proper address. Those were merely the shrieks of a cornered animal that had no choice but to lash out against the predator. Many said the same, often before they were brutally ripped to shreds and dried of their Energon. But Rain had other plans.
Before the brutal Decepticon could move in to deliver a killing blow, Rain boldly dashed past her and lodged twofold arrows in the back of her knee. Coldwind tried to stop her, but it was too late, her strike instead finding purchase against snow-covered stone rather than Rain. The piece of earth immediately shattered into a thousand tiny shards coated in ice.
And then, a massive eruption followed, the largest of them all—at least twice as strong as the previous.
It took a while, but Coldwind recovered from the explosion with a crippled knee. She did not let the other one see it, but its support was weaker than she'd like to admit. Another explosion like this and the whole limb could've come clean off. But whatever the case, she stared back at the escaping Rain intently.
There were no shouts of anger, no attempts to pursue. In fact, she only raised a brow as the Autobot made away with her wounds. Coldwind had renewed interest in this unassuming enemy. She would let her go, for now, hoping to cross paths again. An unexpected display of generosity...or perhaps simply a way to indulge herself later.
"Goodbye, Rain. Go. Prolong your life by the smallest of margins. Grow bolder, stronger. And when you return, give me a fight to remember you by," she turned to the closing gateway through which the small Autobot made her escape, perhaps not speaking to her directly, but in idleness to while away the time before it flickered and closed.
The helmet covering her head disappeared once more. Sheet after sheet, it fell back to its original position. This encounter was over and she no longer needed the cover her armor offered. With it, the static, muffled quality to her voice went away as well.
Coldwind proceeded to press an index finger against her audials, patching through to Blackridge via her comlink to request a GroundBridge at her location. The lieutenant then promptly sat down on a nearby rock, waiting for the portal to pop open. She reclined against a hardy stone shelf.
With head turned skyward and a claw tapping idly against her thigh, she let her thoughts drift.
