Fairwinds crashed and rebooted eleven times before onlining fully two days after the Phantom had exploded. It took another four hours for her to piece back together what had happened and to make sense of her damage readings. No exoplating anymore, and chunks of the Phantom from where they had been integrated hung off her as dead weights. Her flight components were slagged to scrap, and she could only see in sonar-pings to map out that she was, in fact, lying in a scorched crater. Autorepair had gotten her snesors back up from full blindless over the last 12 hours, her systems reported, so hopefully more would come back online.
With a moan of effort, the cassette dragged herself over onto her stomach and tried to comm. for a pick-up. At the fresh influx of errors, she curled her neck to shove her face into the black earth with a whine. Not fair... Wanna go home.
No comm.s and no flight. Her cassette-carrier link wasn't any good either - an ever blacker and more twisted variant of the mess it was before. Megatron was alive, but far from recovered from that fight with Prime, it seemed. It made her think of Barricade again, just long enough to cringe before she forced the frightened thread aside.
Okay stupid. What does work?
After several minutes, Fairwinds had ascertained that she could move (just, and in a pathetic crawl of wings and talons), had shed off the Fallen ship's remains, could speak and, most significantly, could transmit along her priviledged channel.
So, really, she could remote-access the groundbridge. She just couldn't actually ask to be sent anywhere, and her nav. systems were another under the category of 'fragged'. Still, it was something. It was getting out of the middle of nowhere.
Clinging to this thread of hope despite the very many things that were wrong with it, Fairwinds began scrolling back through previous groundbridge coordinates - collections of nonsensical numbers without her nav. systems to give them setting and context. The record fell into bad code before any coordinates could really recur, and the Nemesis was always moving anyway...
Finally, and on little more than that the coordinates containing '404' seemed apt right now, Fairwinds transmitted a 'bridge control to the mystery destination and dragged herself through.
<<To continue in a new thread in Jasper, wherein Fairwinds finds herself at the side of a road.>>
