Name/Alias: Ian
Age: 21
CHARACTER INFO
Name: Megatron
Age: Late 50s
Gender: Mech
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticons
Original Occupation: Miner, Gladiator
Occupation: Warlord and Decepticon Leader
Appearance:
Megatron is a titan among titans. Few Cybertronians can match him in size and raw strength. He is the battle-hardened dictator, the unconquered gladiator of Kaon, and the warmonger who brought a world to ruin. His physical appearance alone conveys his claim to these titles at a glance. A silver, armored mech, Megatron’s jagged edges make him a terrifying figure by all accounts. His bladed shoulder pads frame a grizzly figure with many piercing points, a collection of smooth surfaces tapering into sharp ends across his entire form alongside a set of massive claws at the end of each digit.
He is top-heavy and covered in plating from head to toe, starting with the solid helmet-like armor framing his scarred face and ending with his massive, pronged pedes, which echo with a distinct presence to them as he walks. To Megatron, intimidation is the tool of a ruler, and so he makes it a point to be mighty in the company of his soldiers with his smoldering red optics and a dignified stance.
Aside from his sheer size, Megatron’s most iconic feature is the fusion cannon on his right arm. It is a downright enormous weapon, capable of harnessing the unbridled power of nuclear fusion. He never removes it nor hides it as many other Cybertronians do with their weaponry, leaving the destructive tool ever-present. It is both a statement and a warning to his enemies.
Another statement Megatron makes with his appearance is the Decepticon emblem on his chest, embedded proudly at the center of two massive breastplates, drawing attention by its purple color alone. And purple, being the faction color of the Decepticons, is not only located on his emblem but also denotes multiple other details across Megatron’s entire form.

Altmode: Megatron resents humans as he does all other forms of organic life. At best, they are useful pawns, and at worst, bothersome pests. Therefore, he has never adopted an alternate form of earthly origin. He has no reasons to hide either, and so, Megatron retained his familiar Cybertronian jet form. Its shape is distinct and sharp much like the Warlord’s root mode. A pair of forward-swept wings frames its solid core which blends into a sharpened wide front unlike any aircraft found on Earth. His fusion cannon sits dominantly at the center top of this alien vehicle, right behind a conspicuous vestige of his helm. A pair of jet engines sits at the back, emitting a purple thrust during flight.

Pertinent History:
Megatron was once a miner under the designation of D-16—a drone that operated in the depths of Cybertron’s industrial South, named so after the section in which he worked. Many of his fellow miners simply accepted their lot in life, but D-16 was quick to develop a superior social conscience. He grew into a stalwart critic of Cybertron’s caste system, inspiring his fellow workers. Together, they told stories of the ancient Primes, and D-16 saw fit to name himself after the one he considered the greatest: Megatronus.
Under this moniker, he entered the gladiatorial pits of Kaon. If there was one way to make the masses listen to what he had to say, it was through combat. He became a successful gladiator, one who never lost a single battle to his opponents. As his popularity mounted, so too did the droves of people willing to listen. After one particularly intense match, the crowd chanted his name in the shortened form “Megatron,” which he accepted as his new namesake.
Following his many victories, Megatron liberated Kaon and the surrounding cities from the grasp of their criminal bosses and became as much an activist as a gladiator, famous for his radical and inspiring rhetoric. Eventually, his words even reached the middle classes of Cybertron, particularly a young archivist named Orion Pax. He and Pax began corresponding, resulting in the latter’s visits to Kaon, where Megatron taught the young archivist self-defense. Together, they became a voice for an equal and just Cybertron. In time, they even came to regard each other as brothers.
However, that bond was not meant to last. Soon, Megatron and Orion stood before the High Council to propose their ideas for Cybertron’s future. Megatron spoke first, desiring to overthrow the old system with force and efficiency, sympathizing with the more radical elements of his movement, and decrying the Council for their inaction and corruption in the face of injustice. Meanwhile, Orion offered a moderate speech on the virtues of a peaceful transition, which was better received by the High Council. Their final decision was that Orion was worthy of being the next Prime. Enraged at this perceived mockery, Megatron stormed out of the meeting and thus ended the negotiations, severing all ties with one of his closest friends.
Bitter and resentful, he believed that Orion was chosen to become Optimus Prime simply because he was naive and easy to manipulate. He felt entitled to the rank of Prime for it was he who polished his cause into the revolution it had become. Gathering his followers, he quickly amassed them into a force to be reckoned with, publicly ascribing them the name Decepticons, which had previously only been spoken of in whispers and wild accusations. None among the Decepticons wished to follow Optimus despite the Council’s decision and thus Megatron became their sole icon and leader.
With the help of his most loyal allies, Soundwave chief among them, Megatron took Cybertron by storm, overthrowing the Council’s unanimous rule just as he had promised. In response, the moderate Autobots formed under the leadership of Sentinel Zeta Prime and his former brother, standing in direct opposition to the Decepticon war march. The two factions became locked in an endless stalemate that consumed the whole planet. During this ceaseless war, Megatron created and committed countless atrocities, slowly losing sight of his goals in pursuit of a singular vendetta against Optimus and an undying determination to subjugate the planet, the distant memories of social progress lost to ash and dust.
As the conflict reached its climax, Sentinel Zeta Prime was killed by the Decepticons, prompting Optimus into the leading position, which only further served to infuriate Megatron, who hounded the Autobots’ new leader at every step, culminating in Optimus’s journey to the planet’s very core, where Primus Himself bestowed the Matrix of Leadership upon him as His last champion. Ravaged by war, the elder god’s spark went dark but shortly after. With His death, Cybertron’s final days were nigh.
No longer able to sustain life on their homeworld, both the Autobots and Decepticons scrambled to the stars. While Optimus put his faith in the Ark, a glorified cargo hauler, Megatron had one of his strongest assets, Trypticon, liberated from Autobot hands and permanently converted into a vessel now known as the Nemesis, his iconic warship for the remainder of the conflict. He pursued the Autobots across the stars, eventually ending up on Earth. Once arriving on the planet, he left the remaining Decepticon forces in Starscream’s hands while he scoured the universe for an army to fight his ancient rival.
Megatron was gone for three years, during which the Decepticons went into hiding. Eventually, he returned, not with an army, but a miracle in the form of Dark Energon, known for its rumored ability to raise the dead. He planned to use its power to reanimate Cybertron’s deceased and bring them forth through a massive SpaceBridge, thus conquering Earth and subjugating its people and resources for his own ends, not least of which was the death of Optimus Prime, who was hiding on the planet under the protection of a human government.
Using the late Autobot Cliffjumper as his first victim, Megatron set about putting this scheme into motion. Although he was eventually stopped by Optimus and his team, the war began anew on this remote world, throwing the Decepticons and Autobots into conflict yet again.
During this renewal of their ancient war, many Cybertronians came to Earth, their activities garnering the attention of a rogue human faction—MECH—a misfit band of technophiles who saw Megatron’s people as nothing more than machines to pick apart. For a time, the Warlord tolerated their interference in favor of pursuing Optimus Prime and his Autobots. However, it eventually became apparent that these scavengers posed more danger than first anticipated. Stubborn and prideful, Megatron could not well allow vermin such as them to dominate this new frontier world, and so he entered an uneasy alliance with his ancient rival, the Autobots, to exterminate them.
However, in secret, Megatron simply used the truce to his advantage. He journeyed back into space, seeking powerful weapons to tip the scales in his favor, and left Starscream behind to manage the Decepticons during this armistice. After months of searching, the Warlord located the armament he sought—Mortilus' Hymn—and headed back to Earth. But upon his return, Megatron found the Decepticons in disarray. Not only had the truce been broken in his absence, but the rampant outbreak of a mysterious disease cost them the Nemesis.
Without the advantage of the ceasefire, Megatron’s timetable moved up. Assigning several of his subjects to the completion of the project and the recovery of his prized warship, he swiftly departed once more, scouring the universe for the more esoteric resources needed to finish his weapon; a mission he could not trust to his underlings lest he suffers the consequences of their failure. Now, it is only a matter of time before the Lord of the Decepticons returns to claim his vengeance against all who would stand in his way.
Be they Autobot or otherwise.
Personality:
Despite his veneer of brutal command, Megatron is a complex person. His goals and passions are a blend of self-righteous villainy and personal pride. Whatever he may have been eons ago, he is now but a pale shadow of that person. The centuries of war chipped away at his soul, leaving deep scars. But one aspect of his personality that remains immutable throughout the ages is his determination. He has always been willing to fight tooth and claw for what he desires, be it freedom, the Matrix of Leadership, or the death of Optimus Prime. He is cruel and ruthless without compromise when it comes to pursuing his goals. No matter how steep the price is, Megatron is willing to pay it with lives, Energon, armies, worlds if need be.
Another quality Megatron still possesses is his intellect. Though he is no Shockwave nor Starscream, his strategic mind carried the Decepticons to victory on Cybertron and many worlds over. Despite his strong penchant for overkill, Megatron is no fool. Yes, he is destructive and dangerous, but he knows to keep necessary assets untouched. However, once said assets are no longer useful, he is quick to discard them. Such is his approach to people as well. This way of thinking became integral to the Decepticon cause.
The recent introduction of Dark Energon into his systems rendered Megatron a more unstable and unpredictable individual. He has always been aggressive, but many Decepticons wonder whether the Dark Energon flowing through Megatron’s veins impacted his ability to lead and reason. Yet despite these speculations, Megatron rules his armies with an iron fist. He will stop at nothing until his enemies are dust, nor until the world bows down before him.
A person who values the power of violence and loyalty, Megatron exalts these “virtues” in himself and others. He rewards those that serve him with stalwart determination, praising success where success is to be rewarded. If he still has any interests at all, it would be a good fight. There is no denying that Megatron thrives on the field of battle as much as he does scheming in the confines of his base. He is a direct person and a leader who wants to see those same qualities in his ranks, but above all else, Megatron craves power. Whereas once it was freedom, the pursuit of control and domination are now paramount goals in his life.
Fundamentally hateful, Megatron’s life is filled with no shortage of hurdles. Being the archetypical Decepticon, he loathes the Autobots for everything they are and stand for. Naturally, Optimus Prime is his greatest enemy, a true nemesis if ever there was one. Megatron will never forget the “countless crimes” the Prime committed against him and the Decepticon cause, nor the terrible “betrayal” he had suffered at his hands all those years ago. He is a controlling leader, punishing defiance and treachery within his ranks severely. This often puts him at odds with Starscream—who is infamous for his duplicity. And yet, in his brand of scheming, Megatron finds a level of amusement and challenge, showing that no two traitors are alike and that some may garner his favor for their talents.
Likes: War & combat, crushing his enemies, loyal servants, challenges, might & power, intelligence, blind obedience, undermining his opponents, duels, decisive decisions, being in control, mortal peril, coveting cosmic forces, bending others to his will, the smell of a smelting pit in the morning.
Dislikes: Ineptitude, poor excuses, disloyalty against himself, being double-crossed, being wronged, the Autobot cause, moral objections to his actions, dishonesty towards himself, indirect & convoluted decisions, short-sightedness, compromise, the thrilling “heroics” of Optimus Prime.
Strengths/Weapons:
Fusion Cannon: Megatron’s calling card, the fusion cannon, is a weapon capable of incredible destruction. Such armaments were commonly found on vehicles and bases, yet with his massive size, the Decepticon Warlord carries it mounted to his arm at all times. Using its superior firepower, he can pierce anything short of the strongest armor known to Cybertron. The weapon is so potent that it can blast off entire limbs, but it is not very accurate, nor is its 200 yard range particularly impressive, making Megatron rely on sheer carnage and power. Predicting, dodging, and misdirecting its chaotic blasts is the only chance a target has at survival.
Sword: A weapon almost as iconic to Megatron as his fusion cannon, used by him since his days in the pits of Kaon. It is a simple, sleek, and elegant blade which can cut or stab through light and medium armor with relative ease, faltering somewhat with heavy armor unless Megatron applies significant pressure. It is forged from a durable alloy, which also makes it perfect for deflecting the weapons of others.
Vehicle Strengths: Unencumbered by the fetters of an Earth vehicle, Megatron can utilize a pair of twin cannons on his altmode to offer suppressive fire. They are not as powerful as his fusion cannon, only able to damage medium and heavy armor after several consecutive blasts, and light with a few less. Their range is decent, allowing for air-to-ground bombardment from moderate heights—with up to six shots in a sequence. Furthermore, his Cybertronian Jet form allows Megatron to fly in deep space and maneuver better than most manmade vehicles.
Colossal: A mountain of terror and dignity, Megatron’s size is one of his greatest assets. He is large, in charge, and powerful to boot. His massive arms and hands have enough strength to grab, carry, throw, or even crush smaller bots such as Bumblebee or Arcee. He can even send heavier Autobots like Bulkhead flying with some effort.
Impenetrable: Falling on the far end of the heavy armor spectrum, Megatron’s jagged plates protect him from many traditional weapons. His helmet, breastplate, lower legs, shoulders, and forearms are the most well-defended places, bolstering the toughest plating. The Decepticon Lord’s armor is famous for its durability. He has been known to survive terrible odds and accidents which would have certainly offlined those with inferior defenses.
Dominant: Megatron is not simply assertive, he is downright aggressive and commandeering. The dominant presence surrounding him is not just for show. His personality always carries with it a distinct air of inherent superiority. He knows that he is powerful and unafraid to use that advantage to get his way. While ruling through fear is not a perfect method, it makes subverting Megatron a difficult undertaking—one most Decepticon would never live through.
Resolute: Determined to a fault, Megatron will never be deterred from his goals simply because they are difficult to achieve. Where others give up, he thrives. Adversity is a challenge. Conflict is an opportunity. To put it simply, he is possessed of an undying resolution and as long as he truly desires something, he will stop at nothing to achieve it. He is not wont to give up pursuit just because his opponent is faster nor stop fighting because he is low on Energon. To push the extra mile is second nature to him.
Clever: Many know Megatron as a ruthless warlord but they often fail to see beyond the gruff exterior. If ever they tried, they’d see that Megatron is far more than that. He is a brilliant strategist and a thinker almost as clever as he is strong. His strategies are focused heavily on utilitarian design and straightforward goals, making him brutally effective in his grand designs. His solutions to problems tend to be extreme yet potent, putting his enemies at a disadvantage and keeping them on edge.
Weaknesses:
Right Arm: During combat, Megatron heavily favors his right side with both of his weapons being placed on that arm. If he lost it, he would be left with little recourse. In a battle, he practically relies on having it. Disabling it or removing it is the easiest way to incapacitate Megatron at least to some extent. He is still a capable fighter regardless of whether he has the tools most find necessary or not, but this flaw is certainly something even lesser opponents can abuse to their benefit, stalling or stopping Megatron in his tracks.
Mobility: Megatron’s size, build, and volume of armor are all remarkable, but they also mean that he is not built for flexibility. To compensate, his combat style is based on strength and speed, however, he is remarkably susceptible to attacks from the back and flank when he is not directly facing his opponents. An ambush is a great tool against the Decepticon Warlord, even if not fail-proof. Furthermore, the chances of him fitting through tight spaces or bending to conform to them are nearly nonexistent. He cannot well contort his body to accommodate such motions, nor can he flex his joints far enough to block attacks from the aforementioned directions.
Weak Spots: Although a mountain of armor, Megatron is not impervious. The back of his knees is exposed for the sake of mobility. Similarly, his segmented back has a few narrow gaps which can be exploited by skilled fighters. For this reason, Megatron is especially wary of ambushers.
Momentum: Large and heavy, Megatron’s body is almost as terrifying to behold as his deeds, however, once that weight is in full swing, it is difficult to stop. From the simplest of blows to running, Megatron has to gauge every action carefully, for once he begins the motion, it cannot be stopped. This is supremely advantageous to smaller opponents who do not have to worry about such matters.
Cybertronian: With its many benefits, the retention of his jet mode cripples Megatron in two aspects. For one, He is very conspicuous. There is no denying that when flying low, the sleek, strangely-shaped alien vehicle isn’t particularly subtle. At much higher altitudes, it could be mistaken for a human craft, but that illusion only lasts for as long as nobody is holding a pair of binoculars or until Megatron starts moving in patterns impossible for Earth jets. As for the other aspect, he isn’t well-suited to Earth’s atmosphere, making him slower than many conventional aircrafts of human make. This gives better chances of survival to fliers with Earth modes, should they ever find themselves being chased by Megatron.
Egoistic: Megatron’s ego rules supreme, even at the cost of his own well-being. He may be an intelligent strategist, but he also has a proclivity for extreme self-centeredness which can cause harm to himself and his faction. Unlike Optimus, he is not concerned with the side-effects of his actions and words, seeing himself as the absolute authority. This flaw often cripples Megatron at critical junctures, which led him down the dark path he now treads.
Unstable: The ingestion of Dark Energon was a turning point for Megatron. Taking in the volatile substance did not come without its consequences. For one, it radically altered Megatron’s chemistry, binding his body to the Antispark of Unicron. However, as a more practical problem, it rendered him mentally unstable, resulting in fits of anger and outbursts fueled by other negative emotions, making some question whether or not he is still fit to lead the Decepticons.
Overkill: Sometimes, when searching for the simplest solution to a problem, Megatron inadvertently arrives at the final solution instead—that is to say, eliminating it with extreme prejudice. Such megalomaniac plans require copious amounts of resources, time, and dedication, often forcing him to strain his forces or even his very own Spark to achieve the results he deems necessary. He also strongly favors when such methods are used by his subordinates, often seeing little point in Starscream’s longwinded schemes even if they hold merit.
Starscream: Megatron’s relations with Starscream are often a point of contention among the Decepticons. When the two of them work towards a common goal, it cannot be denied that they are a terrifyingly effective duo, but their individualism and pride often put them at odds, with Starscream making numerous claims to Megatron’s title throughout their shared history. More often than not, they are a volatile combination that can lead to acts of self-sabotage and discord within the ranks. Despite this, Megatron keeps Starscream around for numerous reasons, mainly the Seeker’s skills and ambition, but also to never let himself get too comfortable in his position.
Optimus Prime: A subject of repulsion, hate, and at times, even admiration, Megatron’s vendetta against Optimus Prime is legendary. He has made it clear many times that only he can be the one to kill him, even if it means that Optimus gets away from near-death scenarios, thus saving the Autobot cause on more than one occasion. Nobody else is allowed to claim that honor and any Decepticon to even cite such ambitions in Megatron’s presence would meet a swift and untimely end.
Special Skills:
Gladiator: The pits of Kaon shaped Megatron both as a person and as a warrior. His fighting style was unmatched even then and it has only grown more powerful since the beginning of the War. Focused on swift action and handling his opponents, the way he fights could be compared to a mix of various martial arts, but above all else, wrestling. He throws his targets around quite often or uses their weight against them depending on their size compared to his own.
Commander: A leader made, not born, Megatron has extensive experience with commanding his troops into battle. Be it from a post or at the head of an army, he knows how to handle combat scenarios of any kind and react to them accordingly. His presence and charisma allow him to convey his will even when the outlook isn’t in his favor, inspiring and terrifying troops into action.
