Player Name/Alias: Sari
CHARACTER INFO
Name: Unit MPM1D67SE-0074/ "Unit 74" / “Seventy-four”
Age: Skewed / Early 20s
Gender: Mech
Species: Cybertronian
Frame type: Minicon
Faction: Autobot
Original Occupation: Cleaning Drone
Occupation/Specialization: Cleaning/Sterilization Unit
Appearance:
Standing equal to Arcee's knee at standard, and able to extend himself to her hip, Seventy-four is a small mech, built sturdy structurally, but is slender in design. Examination of the bottoms of his pedes and palms reveal ridging that goes to the microscopic level, which function similar to the scales of an Earth house gecko.
He stands on elongated digitigrade legs with fused pede sections. He leans slightly forward by default, weight counterbalanced by plating that extends ‘pack like’ from his back to encapsulate the majority of an otherwise external tank and reservoir system. . Flexible jetter hose connects each side of the system to corresponding wands fused to the tops of his forearms, while a wider, more heavy duty hose for suction attached lower down on the right, pinned in place when not in use, at his side. Since the adoption of his Earth alt, the grip of his handle has become a fixture just below the ‘nape’ area. Additionally he sports half of the squeegee along the side of each ‘thigh’.
Aside from these features he is fairly standard, a flat yellow finish makes him visible to larger mecha, broken up by black and dark grey accents. His lines are smooth, his face places rounded. Equally noticeable is the red Autobot sigil on his chassis, located on a black section of paneling on his chest plate . He has soft, friendly face plates, with light blue optics, protected by a clear stationary visor. Light blue optics are protected by a clear visor.
Altmode: Janilink Automatic Floor Scrubber.
Yellow and Black, with a red autobot sigil on the top, where the company logo would usually be.
Pertinent History:
Brought online well into the establishment of the caste system, Unit 74 was purchased as part of a set of service units for a politically relevant towerling. Information on his former ‘employer’ was purged from his records shortly after he and the rest of his lot were ‘acquired’ in the liquidation of the mech’s holdings. Part of the lot, including Seventy-four was shipped to Six Lasers, charged with cleaning up after the public.
On hand at the time of the assault on the theme park, he and a handful of maintenance drones were taken up by marauding Decepticons. As the war waged on, his movement tracked alongside an anti-aircraft artillery mech designated Caliber. Seventy-four relied on larger comrades for transport, filling a role of basic maintenance of both weaponry and the troops. Along the way, Decepticon field medics expanded his duties, by training him in sanitization procedures of medical equipment.
His last known coordinates as a Decepticon coincide with that of Caliber, an offworld stronghold his unit had been sent to assault near the middle of the war. Mortally wounded and left behind when orders to retreat were issued, the heavy-hitter sent Seventy-four away, to ‘find new friends’.
Seventy-four did as he was told, and ended up on the outskirts of the battlefield. There he was picked up by Autobot scouts. As a POW, he performed many of the same functions as he had as a Decepticon. Overtime as it was determined he was not a threat, his sigil was replaced to prevent new Autobot troops from confusing him for a hostile.
By the time Optimus Prime’s message calling Autobot’s to Earth had been sent, there were few Autobots left in the sector he was in. The scattered remnants had to split up and pool resources to bribe neutrals or alien species for transport. Paired up with a full sized mecha he hopped different transports, working as his companion bartered and traded for transport. For the last leg of their journey, they had arranged to go with neutrals that were using an old junker to head for a place on Earth it was rumored they would be welcome. The cleaning unit was left with them to start working as part of their payment for being ferried, but when it was time for the transport to depart, his companion did not return. The neutrals did the honorable thing and took Seventy-four to Earth, setting him loose in a close approximation of where he was supposed to be. Not knowing exactly where the other Autobots were, the cleaning unit set out, armed only with the knowledge that he was to remain hidden from Earth’s inhabitants; which of course meant finding a new alt, and hiding.
Personality:
Naive, friendly, trusting
Unit 74 was programmed to be compliant and obedient, to allow him to keep the client happy and stay out of the way. These protocols override suspicion of the intentions of other mecha, and hinders self preservation instincts .
He can be shy, but once sure that it’s alright for him to be involved, is open, even enthusiastic about interacting with others. He wants to be helpful, and for everyone to be happy. When it sinks in that things might be otherwise, he feels it deeply, but does not seem to suffer lasting effects.
His sense of self is somewhat skewed, being a mostly collective minded unit, that he might have his own ambitions are a bit beyond him. He is just generally pleased to belong. Given his overall demeanor and lack of full understanding for the difference in the factions, it is most likely best to keep him far away from any unknown ‘visitors’.
Likes: Cleaning, Cuddles, Hiding, Climbing, Boxes
Dislikes: Suffering, Violence, Hostility
Strengths/Weapons:
Low Profile: Not only is Unit 74 small, to prevent life signatures from setting off a client’s personal security systems. EM dampening and advanced thermo control systems reduce his readable output. Only high level security scans are likely to detect his presence, though the typical frequencies for medical scans circumvent these measures.
Super mobility: In order to close the distance in a big mecha world, and get to hard to reach places, Unit 74 has a couple of features. His backwards folded legs are spring loaded allowing him to jump roughly four times his standard position height, around 8 meters. Similarly, his wheels sport the same biological structures as his palms and pede bottoms. Textured microscopic conductive fibers bond to surfaces, allowing him to scale most surfaces, much as an Earth geeko. His digits are clawed to grip surfaces and slip into crevices with minimal to no damage to the affected metallic surface
Antimicrobial plating: The surface of Unit 74’s platting has a layer infused with metals with antimicrobial properties, and coated in a finish designed for the same purpose. The finish and surface requires maintenance, as they can be stripped by abrasion or corrosive chemicals.
Tank System: Accessible from panels in the plating housing them on his back, Seventy-four sports a two reservoir one tank system. The former used to store concentrated or diluted cleaners, solvents or water to be utilized by his cleaner wands. The latter can be used to store spills or excessive liquids.
Accessories: His frame his compartments in his chassis and along a side that store the tools of his trade. Interchangeable nozzles are used to change the focus and use of his cleaning wands. Additionally he has access to his alt’s main scrubber along with his various pads. Seventy-four also makes use of a variety of manual tools, brushes, polishing tools, and choice shams he’s collected.
Foam Cannon: Most notable of his accessories, is an attachment stored at his left, which can be connected to a cleaning wand to spray a thick foam from its separate, integrated reservoir that, when filled with appropriate cleaners. Enough of cleaner can be diluted down to to coat a grounder alt of similar size to Bumblebee, when half full. Its range is 10m (32 feet), and while the foam cleaner can cling to surfaces and act as an irritant to the optics, it will cause no lasting harm, once they have been rid of the solution.
Weaknesses:
Weapon-less: Miniscule claws aside, Unit 74 is unarmed. Attempts to arm him would require adjustments to his protocols, and an overhaul of his frame if the weaponry was to be integrated in any fashion. His claws do not serve a combative function, doing little more than leaving shallow marks in delicate faceplates of other minicons.
Armor-less: While he is constructed to withstand impact and to be all around sturdy to avoid accidental damage in the course of his work, protection from assault is coincidental. Energy weaponry will pass right through his plating, while excessive heat from artillery cast off may have an effect from compromising his systems to physical damage depending on intensity and duration.
Tender-foot: The rigid structures on his wheel surfaces, palms, and pedes are sensitive to excessive heat, and injury. If damaged, he must wait for self repair systems to correct, as the structures are too small to readily use medical intervention to expedite his recovery.
Helping Hand: Not designed to be purchased as a single unit, Seventy-four’s design assumes that there will be others of his model, or a station by which he can fill his cleansers, empty his holding tank, and clean, decontaminate or otherwise treat them. Through access on his back these tasks can easily be accomplished with the proper tools (or improvising), but it needs to be done by someone else, as he can’t reach to do it himself.
Naive: There are bad mecha out there, he knows this, having helped clean up the aftermath of battle. However, it rarely occurs to Seventy-four that mecha standing before him might be one of those bad people. His protocols are to be compliant and to follow instruction, so he tends not to question what he’s told, unless what is being asked of him will anger someone he is more inclined to obey. Even then, he can be easily manipulated by a sharp mind and a silver glossa.
Illiterate: To ensure that service units don’t compromise the privacy (and likely unscrupulous activities) of clients, coding was put in place to prevent the proper processing of written language and numerics, blocking the images from properly reaching the logic centers to be deciphered and stored in memory banks. The coding; however, only recognizes characters similar to those used on Cybertron.
Special Skills:
Equipment Sterilization: Early in the war, field medics realized his potential to learn through instruction to properly sanitize medical equipment.
Weapon Maintenance: Often hanging around Caliber and the other soldiers, he has picked up on how to maintain most weaponry, at least so far as he is physically able to perform the function.
Extra Info:
Seventy-four typically references himself in the third person, and in some circumstances uses collective pronouns due to his original ties to his ‘brothers’.
