Name/Alias: River
CHARACTER INFO
Name: Onomatopoeia / Ono / Mono
Age: Fortyish
Gender: Femme
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticons
Original Occupation: Economics Analyst.
Occupation/Specialization: Guerilla fighter
Altmode: 2006 Ducati 749R in Red and black with custom dual sided, dual chain extended rear swing-arm modified for Drag racing. Formerly a flying data projector.
Appearance: Onomatopoeia is entirely red, black and white with only a smidgen of silver and gold among her components. Standing at 3.5 meters tall, she is barely twice the height of a human, taller than most Mini-cons, and shorter than any of her full size comrades.
Ono’s wide round face is white, with black sclera and white irises, encased in a black helm.
The center of her chest fits her alt’s front wheel with the tire loosely forming a tabard. Her back is formed - from the top down - from her alt’s fuel tank, saddle, and tail fairing. Ono’s slender waist is buttressed by the front forks of her alt. Her thighs are composed of her alts rear wheel, split into quarters with each quarter forming a front or back of each thigh. Her lower legs are formed from the swing-arms of her alt. Her toes and heel struts can tuck into her calf revealing the exposed chains with which she can glide, or cut. Ono’s knees and gauntlets are armored with overlapping plates. Her hands are somewhat oversize allowing for the use of equipment designed for larger mechs. Her fingers end in chisel like flat points allowing for good fingertip grip.
Pertinent History: Onomatopoeia is approximately six million years old. She spent the first third of her life as protégé and personal assistant to Chancellor Regale, and the other two thirds of her life as a violent and vindictive guerrilla fighter in the Decepticon uprising.
Onomatopoeia was a rare mini-con student who had emigrated from Luna 1 early in her life to study in Kallis, Cybertron. It was a move barely permitted due to Ono’s alt as a Holo-projector and passionate intelligence she displayed in numerous applications for the transfer.
Regale was a towerling chancellor of the city-state of Kallis. In her time, she was a master of politics, a professor of Economics, and generally a very well read intellectual. Guilds and colleges under her guidance flourished. Though a member of the highest caste, Regale had a firm belief that the system itself was responsible for cultural stagnation and general decline of Cybertron, but even with his status, irrefutable proof was slim.
In Ono, Regale saw amazing promise. Personally seeing to her education, Regale took on Onomatopoeia as a protégé, personal assistant and secretary. With Regale's support, she became an analyst for the local Kallis Council in her own right - albeit a significant number of rungs down the hierarchical ladder. At some point, Ono chose to take on modifications so that she could link with Regale. Even with a chancellor as a sponsor, Onomatopoeia felt she would forever be regarded as an analyst caste member by most at best, and granted even less respect due to her minicon stature. Stuck within a system that was almost adversarial for her, Onomatopoeia broadened her intellectual studies to include things like psychology and corporate tactics, anything that she believed might give her an advantage when dealing with others. Any resent she ever felt just gave her more determination to succeed.
As dissent in the lowest castes approached its crescendo, Regale was killed in an accident that Onomatopoeia strongly believed, but could not prove, was a political assassination. A string of brief and inept investigations brought forward no solid evidence. Due to her status as a Mini-con, Onomatopoeia was legally denied rightful inheritance of Regale’s assets. With the loss of her Mentor and life partner, she fell deeply into depression with just enough desperation and foresight to liquidate any of Regale’s assets she could before they were squandered by the High Council.
Onomatopoeia’s need for retribution found an anchor to sanity in the Decepticon uprising. While she shared sympathy for the equality the rebels demanded, Onomatopoeia mostly just wanted to eliminate those she saw as her enemy. She played the part of a good loyal soldier, but for Ono, it was personal. Burning through most of the credits she had acquired from liquidating Regale’s assets, Ono got herself a total frame swap. In part due to being a Mini-con on Cybertron, and in part due to supply and demand issues thanks to a looming war, Onomatopoeia paid an exorbitant amount for the work. She upsized and took on all the armor and weaponry her spark could handle with a couple of systems like her projector carried over from her previous body. With the same drive and energy that she approached her personal education, she turned to combat training.
What Onomatopoeia lacked in prior skill and experience for fighting was countered by sheer determination and an open approach to learning from any source at all. Any iota of free time was spent practicing. Official training sessions became battlefield experience. Luck was overtaken by acquired skill. In order to be as capable as possible, the ex-minicon also studied data on war and battlefield tactics and strategy, as well as numerous fighting disciplines. She even studied the fighting styles that others might employ against her so she could be better prepared. Her own personal combat style would develop over a thousand years of battle. 4 million years of war later, Onomatopoeia has fought hammer and nail to improve upon her skills in a vengeful rampage to eliminate any and all who ever supported the High Council. Though Onomatopoeia was not forged as a soldier just like many other Decepticon conscripts, she has made the most of four million years of war to become exceptionally skilled in combat.
Out of battle, Ono worked behind the scenes employing her secretarial skills to support the Decepticon movement. On the field of battle, she was mostly employed to Unit Delta Omega countering Autobot scouts, or hitting the outlying Autobots positions during skirmishes and battles. She may not have seen as much close combat as dedicated frontliners but she really does have an imperial butt load of experience under her.
In the ceaseless chase by the Decepticons for Autobot lives, Onomatopoeia too was among those on the Nemesis during the Exodus. She has spent most of her time on Earth on the streets and in the background chasing Autobot sightings with an effort to find their base of operations.
Personality: Onomatopoeia is prim and proper with self-confidence bordering on arrogance. Amongst her fellows, she is respectful and polite. Though she can be nice, it’s not in her nature to be generous; Ono is without a doubt self-centered and cares little for anyone who isn't her deceased Master. Of her Master, even though she is gone, Onomatopoeia is irrevocably devoted. She follows the Decepticons only through their efforts to conquer the Autobots as she no longer cares much about the original cause. For the most part, she sees her comrades in arms as tools to be used for her own means; Onomatopoeia just simply treats her tools with care and respect based on their usefulness. But then, she is just as much a tool herself for the Decepticon war machine.
Given her stature, and greater intellect relative to her miniscule strength, Onomatopoeia is a practical thinker who quite often concedes in needing help to achieve her personal victories. As long as her goals are achieved, she cares little for how directly or indirectly she is involved. She is still a murderous little glitch very happy to get her hands covered in another’s oil. Ono is incredibly vindictive, with the will and patience to back it up. Any slight upon her person will be remembered. She’s on a personal mission to exterminate every single Autobot just to avenge herself and her master. An impossible goal to be sure, but it certainly keeps her going. Her simmering anger fuels her through any adversity. The counterpoint is that without her anger holding her together, she might just emotionally fall apart.
As a mini-con once denied full rights on Cybertron, Onomatopoeia craves the respect she was once denied though she will happily settle for fear or adoration. There is definitely an underlying inferiority complex which manifests in her relentless drive to achieve all she can.
Likes:
Underestimation side A: Onomatopoeia likes to be underestimated by her opponents; it helps give her a killing edge.
Wealth: Every luxury wealth can buy. The good things in life are good.
Revenge: Killing Autobots genuinely brings her satisfaction, both in the physical action, and the core desire.
Balance: Onomatopoeia wants to see a world in balance with all wrongs corrected appropriately. Just don't call out her hypocrisy.
Culture: Though she does not openly display it, Ono very much appreciates art in its myriad forms, particularly abstract paintings, and vocally complex music.
Dislikes:
Aliens: Onomatopoeia has a borderline superiority complex and views biological life as inferior to mechanical.
Being touched: This small femme has a large personal space.
Underestimation side B: Onomatopoeia detests being underestimated by her comrades as a lack of respect due to her mini status infuriates her.
Fake news: Something of an antithesis, Onomatopoeia despises bad information, incorrect data, or just plain errors. She also hates Poker for this reason.
Strengths/Weapons:
Mental: Onomatopoeia would describe her intellect as her greatest strength. She is smart, a master of economics, as well as skilled in politics and administration. Her will and memory are both formidable. She is also wise enough to know not to hunt more than she can handle. She has studied everything that could help her in killing Autobots - strategy, tactics, and numerous combat disciplines. Ono has only mastered her own preferred style of fighting but can recognise some of the styles others may use and is prepared to counter them.
Physical: Onomatopoeia can move with the lithe grace of a dancer or the primal frenzy of cornered turbo-fox. The diminutive femme has worked incredibly hard to become as physically adept as reasonably possible. She relies upon her agility in combat to avoid getting hit in order to stay alive and keep on kicking. Her fighting style is partly based upon Crystalocution but focuses on weak points between armor instead of armor fracture points. In particular, Ono likes to go for ankle and knee joints to drop taller opponents down, and open them up for more lethal attacks. She also prefers to get inside the effective melee range of larger opponents. Though this opens her to being grappled, she is adept with aggressive counters. Onomatopoeia also has sufficient upper-body strength to climb with ease.
Pocket Rock-ette: Onomatopoeia can't afford to let herself be weighted down, and so the average of all her armor is light. On most of her back, knees and gauntlets, she wears medium-light armor. Lower legs, hips, and shoulders are light. On the back of her gauntlets is a strip of medium armor specifically for deflecting bladed attacks. Her midriff is practically unarmored.
Let there be light: A holdover from her forging as a data projector, Onomatopoeia retains the ability to display any visual media she can imagine in both her forms freely from any gesticulation. The images at most are no bigger than herself, kept within ten meters, and are only solid enough to be completely opaque but not physically tangible. She does not use these in any combat situation since these holograms are effectively invisible to radar or infrared based detection systems. Instead they are mostly utilitarian displays like graphs, maps and diagrams. Very rarely art too. As such her holotar is not physically solid, being constructed from light only without any hardfield scaffold.
Fight Fire with Fire: Being small just makes deadly weapons all the more important. On the back of each forearm, Onomatopoeia has an energy blaster, average rate of fire for average damage against medium armor. They have mechanical locks so Onomatopoeia can't shoot the back of her own hands as she uses her hands to catch and grab her opponents and only shoots when opportunity arises. Each blaster is fed by an internal eight round capacitor magazine. These capacitors recharge from Onomatopoeia’s own energon supply at a rate of one every twenty seconds - just under three minutes each for both blasters. Every charge equates to about zero point five percent of Ono’s total energy. She can choose not to recharge her blaster’s capacitors to conserve energon.
Chain Roar: From her knees down, Onomatopoeia’s legs consist of exposable chainsaws made from the rear swingarm of her altmode. The teeth are energon constructs; unequivocally sharp, though they still require applied force from their drive motors to cut - a natural limit with Onomatopoeia’s small build. It is with these that Ono does the most damage in melee with her kicks and strikes. A simple swift quick may only cut an inch through soft armor while in a prolonged hold, she can sever through unprotected joints.
Like any form of chainsaw tool, there are some limitations. The most obvious is that harder armor takes longer to cut through, time she doesnt have in real combat. Secondly is the energy drain. Merely having the energon chain teeth active has a slow drain, while actively cutting has an exhaustive drain. Onomatopoeia is good for about two or three melee fights before reaching her stamina limit. There is a cutting depth limit of about eight inches since the blades are thinner than her lower legs.
Chain Soar: Onomatopoeia’s energon construct chainsaw teeth have a secondary format - that of continuous tracks. They form slightly curved flat surfaces with a softer hardfield scaffold that provides a minor degree of suspension. Like this, Ono can move somewhat like a skater. She can move roughly at 35mph while her sprinting speed is 50mph. She can only cross very hard smooth ground, not rubble or dirt, and she can't corner very well at speed. Onomatopoeia prefers this to walking when going from A to B because she feels more graceful.
Weaknesses:
Lights Out: Onomatopoeia lacks stamina. She burns through her energy fast in combat or other strenuous activities. Additionally, her spark is at its load burden capacity with her current frame putting it under strain. Spark damage has a greater chance of being mortal than a similar injury on another bike-former.
Dammed: Lacking in strength and damage output, Onomatopoeia will always struggle against physically superior opponents despite her skill and will. She simply cannot go through heavy armor effectively and must work around and make the opportunity to do so.
Stale Air: Onomatopoeia’s natural vindictive attitude can easily put her at odds with her fellows. In her arrogance, she rarely considers the machinations of her enemies and she can be led into traps by opponents with greater foresight. A distaste for deception can make Onomatopoeia blind to tactically superior options that involve simply lying. Her obvious obsession over Regale means her loyalty to Megatron will always be questioned - which is fair. She has been tolerated in the past because she has been a good competent soldier thus far.
Burned: Onomatopoeia is vulnerable to long range attacks, ambush tactics and traps, and simple overwhelming force or skill. Smart Aerialbots and Frontliners will always be beyond her ability to solo. Being so light she is also easy to throw around.
Crystal Fractures: The specific weak points in Onomatopoeia’s armor are her waist and side strikes to her legs. She is also very vulnerable to cold climates.
Chain Sore: Whenever Onomatopoeia hits an opponent with her chainsaws and there is a transition in parts or materials, there is a chance she will snag on the interface. This can go from causing her leg to jerk, to throwing her completely off balance.
More
Faux French: Onomatopoeia has never lost her original accent from her home city on Luna 1. This is a deliberate choice on Ono’s part. When translated into Terran English, her accent is most easily defined as French.
The hardfield generator that is nominally bound to a solid holotar that others sometimes use is in Ono’s case bound to her energon construct chainsaw teeth. Hence why her own holotar and other holographic projections are not solid.
When she takes the time, Onomatopoeia enjoys creating abstract cityscape art of Luna 1 with her holo projections.
