Name: MRC-333 ("Mercy")
Age: Early twenties
Gender: Femme
Species: Cybertronian (Vehicon - Servant Class)
Faction: Decepticon
Original Occupation: Energon miner
Occupation/Specialization: Energon miner and mining equipment maintenance
Appearance: As tall as any other Vehicon, Mercy is one of thousands in a sea of clones. A featureless silver mask sits on her face, with two V-shaped, fiery red gashes serving as a set of dual optics. Silver arms are covered on the outer edge by muted violet and black armor, with her front wheels going behind her shoulders. A dark violet and black chest plate and codpiece contrast with an exposed silver torso and thighs, with dark violet "boots" coming up to her knees. Stamped in the middle of her chestplate is the Decepticon symbol, raised and silvered.
Altmode: None
Pertinent History:
From her earliest days, MRC-333 knew nothing but the toil of mine work and the metal shredder that is war. Only days after being cold-constructed, a group of Wreckers destroyed a mine she was working in, burying her alive. Terrified and alone, the panicked MRC-333 nearly bled to death under the rubble. It was only by the grace of Primus that a passing patrol of Vehicons investigated what remained of the operation. Hearing her weak, faint cries for help, they dug her out and hauled her back to their base for repairs. The incident would instill a fear of her own doom in MRC-333, setting the stage for a nervous, survival-oriented individual who rarely asked for help and kept to herself.
When MRC-333 was able to walk - and barely more than that - she was once again thrown into the turmoil of war. It was routine for her unit's assignments to include Energon deposits and mines closest to the front lines. The sounds of battle were ever-present in the distance, their attempts at resource extraction hurried and near-desperate. It was a constant race for fuel, marked by long hours and frequent attacks by Autobots. Some of whom liked to toy with the drones trying to defend and work in the mines, and MRC-333 was witness to numerous close calls and acts of cruelty on both sides of the war. Cynicism and bitterness grew in her spark, hardening her outlook on life and reinforcing her devotion to keeping her head down. It was kill or be killed, take advantage or be taken advantage of. In those days, she thought little of the whys and hows of the war's beginning, only that there was a fight and she was on the Decepticon side.
It was only after Cybertron's core went dark that MRC-333 gained a chance to expand her horizons. In a weeks-long mad dash to scavenge for supplies on their dying world, MRC-333 came across some old datapads. They had movies and works of literature on them, some of them recordings of Megatron's old rallies and poetry. MRC-333, used to only pain and working in the mines, enthralled herself with the imagery of what she found. Her hardened heart began to soften, inspired by the world that once was, and she ravenously consumed every bit of Cybertronian media she could find. When she wasn't working in the mines, she would scratch short verses into the underside of her berth, and dream of a glistening Cybertron where all were equal and there was no war.
MRC-333 was among those who were on the Nemesis when it chased the Ark to Earth. She took the time spent in space - when she wasn't mining asteroids or passing planets for scant Energon deposits, of course - to further her literary prowess. She began writing poetry on datapads she'd brought with her, and continued to do so as the Nemesis descended to Earth. When it landed, she found an unusually-peaceful lull even though the 'Bots were planet-side. There was conflict, yes, and a couple of the mines she was sent down to were attacked, but it was nothing like what she'd seen on Cybertron. MRC-333 dared to hope for a quick end to the war, to a peace through tyranny that Megatron had promised. She even took on an Earth name like her fellow Vehicons, settling into her new home comfortably. Her dreams were shattered with the sinking of the Nemesis, the turning of her own kind against each other making MRC-333 doubt her own side. Now she spends her days going to and fro from Energon mines to Blackridge, trying to do her job and not get killed by either 'Bot or 'Con.
Personality:
What little she does express or show outward she channels through a creative lens. MRC-333 is a poet and a thinker, and writes her own verses in forgotten corners and looked-over places. The datapads she scavenged from Cybertron are still in her subspace, and she's a big fan of Earth's superhero comics. (The name "Mercy" actually comes from a character in a comic she read.) She often mulls over the meaning of life, and takes pleasure in the few quiet, free moments she has. Mercy also has a sense of justice and fair play that burgeons beneath her dreary outlook, though she keeps it hidden because of how the 'Cons are. There is also an unspoken reverence for the Primes and Megatron, the latter of which she sees as a Prime-like figure due to his wielding of the blood of Unicron. If his brutal methods haven't scared her into complete loyalty to him, then the belief he's somehow the Fallen Prime reincarnated has.
Likes: Getting work done. The Decepticons. Poetry and literature. Deep, thoughtful conversations about life and the universe, even if she never has them. Having a supply of Energon on hand. Going unnoticed. Writing. Finding Energon deposits. Superhero media.
Dislikes: Wide open areas. Autobots. Having an empty tank. Extroverts. Being the center of attention. Unnecessary violence and brutality. Bright lights. The fear of bringing down Megatron's wrath on her head. Being interrupted.
Strengths/Weapons:
- Mining Laser: Mercy possesses a standard-issue Vehicon laser that doubles as a mining tool. It can be used either for extracting Energon or injuring someone else, depending on what mode it's switched to. In attack mode, it has medium range and damage; in mining mode, it has a low range, and can do heavy damage if used to cut slowly. It can fire up to seven shots before needing a three-second cooldown.
- Medium Armor: Mercy possesses medium-grade armor that is more heavily-plated in front. It can stop light damage and lighten the impact of medium-grade damage in front, and take light and medium damage in the back. Heavy damage (such as a powerful-enough explosive or Megatron's fusion cannon) is something the armor can't withstand, however.
- Talons: Like all Vehicons, Mercy possesses three-digit claws with sharp talons on the ends of her fingers. These do medium-grade damage, and are cared for and sharpened regularly.
- Low-Light Vision: Mercy's secondary visor allows for low-light vision mode to navigate in darkness with. She can see as well as a regular Vehicon can during the day in lower-light conditions thanks to this.
- Going Unseen: Mercy knows how to move quietly and stick to the shadows. She can use her size and dark color to hide in gaps and tunnels underground, and she doesn't scream or make loud sounds easily when startled. She is used to tip-toeing and creeping quietly as to not disturb others.
- Mining Experience: Mercy has been a miner since she was first onlined, and is experienced with working in subterranean and surface mine environments. She is aware of the dangers of her work, and is familiar with navigating tunnels and other enclosed spaces. She can work a drilling machine and various other mining tools, and knows how to drive/operate a large mining vehicle.
- Well-Spoken: Despite never wanting a chance to show it, Mercy is well-spoken and poetically-inclined, and has a talent for flourishing speech. She could, if she had more confidence, give speeches or speak stories that could sway crowds. Her style of speech is very much inspired by Megatron's presentations of old.
Weaknesses:
- Confounded by the Light: Mercy's vision is vulnerable to bright flashes of light. She can be stunned or become disoriented for a few moments by a sudden patch of sunlight, a bright blast, or anything else of the sort.
- Disordered Eating: Mercy never runs on a full tank. Though starvation is one of her greatest fears, she also fears one day being cut off from Energon for whatever reason. Because of this, she only drinks a third to half her ration at a time, storing the rest away for later. Depending on the day and her workload, this can make her more sluggish, cranky, and non-reactive than she should be, and distract her with the occasional HUD error about underfueling. Sometimes she may panic if her HUD errors become too insistent, and she also may steal fuel from others if she craves it enough.
- Emotional Overload: When Mercy is exceptionally emotional, her processor halts or even crashes - a glitch she's had ever since she was cold-constructed. When this happens, she literally freezes up: she can't think, she can't move, and her HUD stops working. Her systems can reboot to resolve the problem, but it can take time based on the severity of how emotional she is. Reboot times can range from a few seconds to a few minutes.
- No Alternate Mode: Mercy lacks an alternate mode to turn into, meaning she can't blend in with Earth's vehicles or make a quick getaway.
- No Poker Face: Mercy's EMF is a large, expressive one, and she finds it difficult to keep it to herself. This is despite her reserved body language and huddled posture, which only accentuates the already-present Vehicon slouch even more. This makes her an easy read, even when she's trying to be deceptive or nonchalant about something.
- Weak Points: Around the inside of her arms, Mercy lacks armor. These could be used by assailants to severely injure or her cripple her with the right attacks.
Special Skills: Mercy has some knowledge of geology, and can identify rocks and different formations by looking at them - she isn't specialized in this field, though. Mercy also has knowledge of repair and maintenance of mining equipment, such as oiling parts, repairing broken hydraulic lines, removing jammed material from gears, and general basic care.
