He'd been following them for months, and every orbital cycle he spent trailing them, the more he realized they were on exactly the same course.
Skydive saw his target hit the planet's atmosphere at the same time he did, from several miles away. He'd been sure to hang back far enough that the ship's sensors shouldn't have been able to track him, even going so far as to hide behind moons to go undetected, but as their destination got closer, he found himself speeding up. There was no way to calculate the exact risks in attacking the Decepticon ship, so doing it blindly could get him in trouble. There was just he, and inside the ship he couldn't tell how many Cons waited for him, and there just might be fliers.
Most bots traveled the cosmos in ships when they could. It was safer as they offered protection from flares, space storms, and other phenomena. They also contained autopilot functions and comfortable berths to recharge on. They weren't indestructible but even to fliers they were a coveted item to possess for space flight. Skydive had had no such option when he'd left his last outpost behind. He had only himself, and had chosen to follow the Prime's transmission understanding the risks. He just hadn't expected to run into Decepticons on the way. It had been quite a while since he'd seen them...
The flight to Earth had been long and with rare opportunities to grab energon and recharge on the way, Skydive was close to exhausted. But he had plenty enough kick left and a small ration or two to tide him over into a fight if need be. Luckily, the Autobots would soon be in range for an assist. Unable to tell what or how much Decepticon activity there was planet-side, however, he kept his comm closed for now.
The warmth of the Earth's atmosphere encased him, heating up, the increasingly dense gases pulling at his frame and straining his wings. He slowed down severely, the speeds one could fly at in space unsuitable for responsible flight in atmo. But the hard part only lasted a few minutes.
Once he hit the cool, moist upper stratosphere he angled for the ship, adjusted his parameters for flight at this level, and then blasted forward, carefully following the ship via scanners to its landing.

(OOC: If there was damage to the ship to the ship at all, Skydive is and has been far enough away that he couldn't see it. )
