Okay, I sat down one day to make a standard bio for League. He's the only vanilla(not BW or some other branch off) OC I have and I wanted a basic bio of him that wasn't connected to any TF universe and could be transferred between them with only a few tweaks. His backstory remains roughly the same, a few changes to his design and weapon load out as well as a size bump for both him and his alt mode, but more along the lines of a 60 foot sub then a 40-50 foot.
Well while I was thinking about League, my mind wandered to an old Rp character I once used, a one-shot I don't really consider him an OC belonging to me since I've hardly ever used him and he isn't quite as well fleshed out as League. His name is Rudder, a sea-plane that is only comes up to League's chest in size, still a bloody large bot but not super massive. His meager backstory was that he was a laborer bot similar to League, but unlike the sub he had an extremely gifted processor, being drafted as a scientist once he leaned the ropes of his new field. He basically invented a new coolant system, but it comes at a cost, he can no longer survive for more then two hours in over 100 degree environments. On the flip side it lets him exist in freezing temps that would kill just about any other bot. He has two huge dual barrel on his shoulders and a big honking, single bladed war axe. His cannons fire either super dense shells that punch through stuff or tightly packed ice right from his coolant systems, exploding outwards and rapidly freezing an area. If you have't noticed yet, his backstory is somewhat similar to my version of Prime Acid Storm. Rudder also had a third mode, his legs fuse together and the engines from his plane mode move to the end of his new 'tail' making it resemble a fluke. His merman form if you will.
Well when I thought of him, Rudder is cold, distant and prefers to isolate himself from others. Not out of paranoia like League, he simply likes being alone to work without someone constantly looking over his shoulders...not that many could mind you, but the point stands.
Anywho, the more I looked at my lesser OC and League, I realized how much I cannibalized him and drew from him to create my moody sub. Suddenly I became a little protective over Rudder and didn't want him to fade into nothingness. So I began to plan a new redesign of poor Rudder, fleshing him out a bit more and changing him up a bit, even adding some elements of League to him, fairs fair and all, League did steal from him first. So over time he began to change. The more I thought about him I took him away from the sea-plane and placed him into one of those giant armored tourist-tanks that have up in the North to keep the polar bears from chewing on folk. His weapon morphed from a war axe to a large ice-pick. Keeping the cannons though and perhaps another weapon if I feel like it. I'm debating if he'll lose his merman mode, change it to an octopus-man mode or keep him merman.
Due to their similarities, I reasoned that it wouldn't be unlikely that they are mold-brothers, bots made from the same machine and cast for the same task.
This line of thinking lead me to a new bot, one I have yet to name. I'm torn between making him a steam engine locomotive or a hovercraft. Basically the oldest of the three he rounds them out by being calmer, wiser and less likely to jump to conclusions. However he finds it hard to connect with other bots, not from lack of trying, but he just sort of ends up pushing everyone away. If I make him a steam engine he's gonna have a rail-gun...why? Think about it, a train with a RAIL GUN! It is lols. Steam powered of course. Not too sure about his other weapons, but I want something melee based, like a climber's hook or a crowbar. More of an explorer/scout sort of guy, granted a HEAVY scout, but he preforms his function all the same. Either into populated areas as the train or high up around mountains and such as the hovercraft. No name for him yet. Anywho, so you get the basics, a wise old loner who fears contact with others and tries to keep them at a distance.
Oh yeah, also a mold-brother. After I thought about it a bit, I like three highly anti-social bots considering each other to be family, granted one that never writes to each other, but still a family It rivals Prime-Hide and his own f'ed cohort on these forums.
You guys have most likely noticed a trend here, personally I'm a massive sucker for trends and elemental trends are one of my worst offenders. If you haven't then I'll just state it here. The Brothers Grump here are all based on the different states of water, fluid for League, Ice for Rudder(possibly getting a name change), and steam for the last Grump.
However they are not alone, there is a forth member to this family. Her name is Valve, named after the machine that controls water and she lives up to it, bending the brothers to her will and manipulating them unlike any other alive. She started out as a fellow scientist to Rudder, they were researching combiner tech to try and make one to combat the 'Cons. Things were growing desperate and she gave herself for testing. However there was a flaw in the programming, one that stripped her of her mind and caused a nasty chain-reaction that nearly tore her body to shreds. Rudder rebuilt her, using mental pattern taken from his own processor and a bit of his spark, he managed to no only bring her back, but get the technology to work to a minor extent. The new Valve was not as intelligent as she used to be, littler more then a child. Rudder felt responsible for her and took her in, the cold emotionless bot had a devil of a time with it as well. She also took to her new 'uncles' right away, managing to use those doe-eyes of her's to cowl League and her sweet smile to win over Steam-Guy so he could spoil her rotten. She has a distant and combative relationship with her father, the two almost always come to blows over every single little detail, proving to be one of the few bots to really rile up Rudder. She's headstrong, cunning, does not like to backdown, even more so when she knows she's right. The smallest of this family she comes up to their chests, which still makes her about Prime-size. Alt wise I'm struggling. I'm not sure if I should make her alt an all terrain one that can go anywhere, or three separate alts each devoted to one of the three phases. Blame Rudder for tinkering around so much and wanting his daughter to have the advantage no matter where she is. Or possibly one alt mode and three different robot modes, each designed after a different phase.
Well there's the entire family, I started out with trying to make a bio for League and got so much more. Suggestions and ideas are welcome, though I must add that none of them, other then League that is, will be showing up in the RP. Prime League is a separate version of my OC.
So what do you guys think?
