Upon inspection, Skydive doesn't look like a heavy hitter, but in the case of aerial combat, he's major whoop-ass in a robot-shaped can.
Skydive is a thin mech, his build lean and proportioned fairly evenly through out. No part of him is tiny, but nothing stands out either. He is, in other words, pretty plain physically. His body type is somewhere between ectomorph and mesomorph. His alt mode is an F-35B Lightning II. The F-35B has a VTOL system, which means he has a single thruster built for hovering, vertical take off, and vertical landing. In primary mode, this thruster is nestled snugly on his back. His four main wings are also on his back, the primary set held almost parallel to the ground. His middle is narrow, his pelvic armor extending downward to twin points. His legs are long and his feet are similar to Arcee's in that the soles are points. His heels, on the other hand, are somewhat kinda like Starscream. Please see pic below, because they're hard to describe. His face plate is pale silver and matte (not like Arcee or Bee's faceplate), his helm encasing it entirely. He has a crest, and then two upward spikes on the back of his helm. Projected over his optics are a set of "glasses" which aid his battle vision. It's simply called a digital or holo-visor (explained below).
His paintjob is pretty plain. The paint itself is matte, not glossy, and the base color is a dusty blue-grey. He is accented with white stripes along the edges of his wings. On his chest is some orange 'glass' from his alt mode's cock pit. An Autobot sigil adorns each of his shoulder guards. His visor is orange, glows slightly, and is opaque enough that others can see his optics behind them.
He is about as tall as Starscream. His voice is a gentle tenor. His default expression is rather stoic, but not because he tries. His serious face comes from him being an introverted kind of guy.

History:
(To any Aerialbot Applicants out there, if you're reading this, the following is vague so it can be easily edited to fit any Aerialbot background you think your char should have with Skydive! )
Skydive was built early in the War, when the Decepticon threat was quickly climbing to its peak. His creators had answered to the call for fliers, Autobot fliers, to combat the Seekers in the air and had scrambled to build him. Somehow, Megatron had snagged most of the Seekers for himself, and the Autobots needed all the aerial support they could get. And so, Skydive was born, and his creators had certainly been ambitious. They built him with an unusually large hard drive and specialized programming that allowed him to mimic nearly any flying technique within the bounds of his physical design. This severely cut down on training time, and he was able to face the best fliers the Decepticons had to offer with as much skill (if a bit of naivete) soon after he came online. And once he'd earned himself a decent record, he was asked to join a special sub-faction called the Aerialbots.
There was one problem. His creators had spent a lot of time on making him as perfect a flier as they could without giving him negative Seeker traits. They'd spent considerable time, energy, and effort on making him what they wanted to be the Anti-Seeker. They hadn't counted on his personality wanting nothing to do with being a war hero, as they'd intended him to become. From the moment he'd entered the world, a young mech in a heated war, he'd been more interested in learning about the past, watching others fly, or observing battle tactics in records than actually executing any of that himself. He seemed to be unaware of his true potential even as those who'd strove to build him tried again and again to make him see. But young Skydive would have none of this. He proved not only incredibly shy, but also incredibly modest. There was no way he could ever be as good a flier as those before him. It was complete nonsense to him why they thought he was meant for big things when he'd really only just been sparked!
It took a long time for him to move beyond this bubble and realize that he was actually quite talented, and the more he studied the war tactics and such of the past, the better educated he was for future battles. In some cases, others looked to him for strategies, and while he felt uncomfortable with this, he knew he was frequently all they had as far as aerial tactics go, so he complied.
When Cybertron was abandoned, Skydive stuck with the Aerialbots for some time until he was separated, at which time he managed to find an Autobot outpost on a planet with energon deposits. The energon attracted stray droves of Decepticons every once in a while, and Skydive helped fight them off. Eventually, the energon was mined and it was Skydive's duty to help protect the cargo ships as they traveled to other outposts. He then hopped from camp to camp helping where he could, the action slowly tapering off as Cybertronians became rarer and rarer to find.
Optimus's message to deep space was a welcome one. One of the few Autobots who could travel through space on his own, he packed what few belongings he had and left the outer rims of Cybertronian space to pursue the Prime back to Earth. He hoped the Aerialbots would be there, and he hoped it could become the Home the Prime seemed to feel it was.
Personality:
Skydive isn't a difficult mech to figure out, though some might consider him so because he's pretty quiet. He's quite friendly, and polite, and so very modest about himself he doesn't really stand out in a crowd. Except that his wings give him away as a flier, of course. He doesn't mind a nice conversation with someone else, and enjoys participating in mild activities - fairly mellow video games, writing, building model planes, reading books with others, etc. He enjoys the activities of a Dreamer, but doesn't often feel the drive to go out and do what he dreams. He is usually a calm, level headed individual, so strong emotions are strange to him, and mood swings are rare. When faced with some achievement or compliment, he usually downplays it in a genuine show of modesty. He knows he's talented, he knows he has abilities others just don't, but he's never convinced he's good enough; he's developed into something of a perfectionist.
He is, however, secretly ambitious. Anyone with observation skills can pick up on the fact that he trains and tries very hard to better himself. Unfortunately, his body can only handle so much and sometimes he pushes himself too far. It isn't unusual to spot him stalling out in midair when his systems have been abused, it's not weird that he may end up crashing despite his skill trying to pull off a maneuver he just can't handle, and it's not strange to find him damaged in Medbay for trying to mimic -insertacepilotnamehere-'s best moves. The observer may even hypothesize that while he's very modest, his skill is not lost on him at all. Maybe he's secretly very proud of his abilities...
For all Skydive's shyness, he is not meek. He doesn't come off as one who would cower, or hide away from others from the stress of socializing. He rather likes reading in a crowded room, or thinking deeply while surrounded by overcharged friends. He's confident enough in himself that he is not easily pushed around, and more assertive and rambunctious Autobots might be surprised to find that, when pressed, he can press back, albeit not necessarily with force. He has a sense of humor, he's just not crude or obnoxious. He is also generally composed, but not so much that he comes off as aloof.
If there is a dark side to him, it is very small and contains a secret ego at his flying prowess. It may also be envious of others' ability to admit their own talents without others thinking poorly of them.
Skydive prizes flight above all else. For a bot who is so sincere in turning down a compliment, he does seem rather obsessed with flying and being good at it. Sometimes, he may surprise others by volunteering for something dangerous, or taking on a task someone more aggressive might have volunteered for, and this might support that suspicion. Furthermore, when Skydive does get angry, his modesty seems to melt enough to come back with a good bite.
Skydive does not appreciate Autobots with distinctly Con, or what is perceived as Con, characteristics. For example, an Autobot with an impossibly inflated ego who treats others like second class citizens. Conceited, overbearing, overly aggressive mechs with malicious humor rub Skydive the wrong way and can bring out traits in him he normally wouldn't think he'd have. Too many practical jokes of the disruptive kind may also be taken rather seriously by this flier. He remembers one Aerialbot with a rather high opinion of himself that annoyed Skydive consistently, and another with a tendency to release embarrassing pictures of his comrades to the public. If there is any emotion Skydive does not take well, it's embarrassment. (But then, who does, really?)
Overall, the modern day Skydive is introverted but not as shy as in his old days. He's quiet and mellow, but brave and mentally stable. He is a good bot to have as a friend. <3

[/blockquote]Conceit, selfishness, tight spaces, cats (because they think they're royalty), bats (because they fly erratically), music of almost any kind.
Strengths/Weapons:
- Holo Visor = Skydive's visor is top notch equipment meant to aid his sight. It does tracking, aiming, and all that stuff that regular optics would do. But they are also directly connected to his battle computer and both feed and project data for his mental processing. His near-sighted eyes, which are directly connected to his advanced learning software, then interpret the data and he can adjust his flight techniques or whatever else to fit the situation. His visor is an important part of what makes him so talented at flying. It is also crucial to his ability to fire his weapons with any accuracy. When studying up close material, the visor is usually turned off. Otherwise, it's almost always on.
- The Shadow System = His flight software is top notch. His creators took great care to make him as good as a Seeker, but without the Seeker traits that made them such good Decepticons. They did this by giving him a 'Shadow' learning system, instead of designing his entire brain for flight. Anything flight related he can process, estimate the force/etc needed to execute it, and then copy it nearly perfectly within the first few times in practice. The system has 5 parts working together - his visor feeds data to his battle computer, the battle computer feeds data back to the visor, his specialized optics read the data and imprint it to his memory core. There, the data is forwarded to the Shadow software. The Shadow software then forwards its calculations back to the visor where it's then forwarded to the battle computer. The cycle then goes around again, constantly, at neural-synapse speed. He otherwise has very Autobot programming, so while he is averse to tight spaces, he is not panicky about being grounded and being confined to base does not bother him as severely as some fliers. The Shadow System is, along with his secondary weapon, key to his Anti-Seeker function.
- Nega-Cannon = His Nega-cannon is a medium sized cannon that fires round plasma-like cannon-balls, which could also be called missiles. This weapon is designed to damage another fliers enough to ground them. The round shape means they can only be used within medium range and are built to bludgeon a hole into a mech, not just shoot clean through them, causing nasty rugged wounds. The cannonball loses mass the further out it goes eventually disappearing, and if lodged inside something, it will eventually disintegrate (disintegration doesn't cause damage, but may allow a wound to bleed out). The missiles only fire once every four seconds, requiring a reload/recharge after each shot. The weapon also uses a good deal of energon, and the ball is formed from both matter and the negatively charged portions of the energon used to power it (hence the name nega-cannon). Skydive won't fire unless he has an enemy locked on, or if they're close enough. The Nega-cannon can only be used in alt mode and is built into his belly. The missiles will arch in flight towards an enemy but are otherwise, lucky for some bots, not built to track a target. Because of the limitations on this weapon, it is used secondarily.
- Rifles = His arms transform into long, thin rifles, not unlike Arcee's or Starscream's. They deal light to medium damage depending where they hit. Because of the rifle length, the shots are accurate for a lengthy distance, although, they're not built for sniping. They are mainly built for suppression fire and dogfighting, but are good enough to provide back up on the ground. Skydive is a distance fighter, so if he's on the ground he keeps to the back of the pack and fires from mid-range behind cover. In the air, he's got all the space he needs. Because of the danger to allies and himself using the slow firing nega-cannon, these are his main weapons in either primary or alt mode. In alt mode, these rifles can only face forward.
- Stunt Flier Part 1 = His body is built to handle high risk maneuvers, take high G-forces, and generally stop, start, and turn on a dime so he can pull some serious stunts off. His moves can send some of the best to Medbay.
- Hovercraft = His VTOL engine is somewhat obsolete for take off. All he's gotta do is jump, transform, and rocket off. But since his Nega-cannon is only useful in alt mode, he may use his VTOL to his advantage to surprise an enemy or hovering in place to fire multiple shots. This system can also only be used in alt mode. In Primary mode, the thruster sits on his back. In an emergency, it can be used to break a fall, but its limited flexibility in his design only allows directly vertical hovering with very little control, rendering it inefficient. Firing up his thrusters in primary mode can also maybe burn his skidplate. >_>
Weaknesses:
- Too Modest = Skydive is sometimes clueless to what he could really do if he just believed he could do it. No, more than that, if when he did execute a difficult maneuver he actually believed he'd done well. Furthermore, there have been times when his modesty cost him credit with others, another mech stealing his thunder so to speak. While Skydive does not like this treatment, there is little he does to prevent or fix it when it happens. He doesn't want to look greedy for attention, and he doesn't want to confront the kind of people who steal credit from others. These facts might seem to point to a contradiction in his modesty vs. private ego, but that makes it fun.
- Near-sighted = His creators debated two top notch choices for their project; highly specialized long range optics for increased firing accuracy in the air, or specialized short range optics optimized for up close viewing and the imprinting of visual material to his memory core. They went with the second option, since it worked best with his heavily modified learning software, but this meant he's the Cybertronian equivalent of a near-sighted individual. He is, in other words, heavily dependent upon his visor for flight maneuvers and long range attacks. A head injury could short out the visor long enough to disorient him, and he can't see too well without his glasses.
- Inexperienced with Strong Emotion = He's a level headed individual, and while he experiences mild moods and can laugh like anyone else, it's only occasionally that he feels intense anger, sadness, or something else. When this happens, he usually locks himself away to attempt to think it out or he tries to bottle it up. Anger with the enemy is more easily handled, as it fuels his secret ego, pushing him to use everything he's got to outfox the enemy. He is somewhat embarrassed by this secret ego, which may be why he'll attempt to take back any daringness he might exhibit.
- Stunt Flier Part 2 = His flying skills usually keep him out of trouble, but a good hit can knock him out. He's built for the speed and pressure of aerial maneuvers, but he's not built to take a beating. Furthermore, his systems, when overtaxed, can also stall out, causing him to fall or crash. Trying to pull off too many high risk maneuvers, flying faster than his build can really handle, or stopping/starting MUCH too quickly FAR too often can cause this to happen. A smart opponent would eventually realize this and purposely cause him to attempt heavily taxing techniques in quick succession. When he stalls out, he's as vulnerable and easy a target in the air as an 18 Wheeler in free fall.
- Limited Close Combat Skills = That's kind of misleading. He has dodging skills, and is agile enough to avoid damage from huge brutes. He can also improvise, using self defense techniques and flower pots to trick an opponent. But he is otherwise a poor fighter in up close situations. He was built to take out Seekers in the Air, not fight enemies on the ground.
- Limited Thrust = He is not built for lifting. In alt mode, he can really only lift himself, his own weapons, and maybe a lightly built modification, like a set of small bombs for an air strike. He cannot lift most other bots, and landing on him from above in alt mode (perhaps while hovering) can almost guarantee he'll be pinned if the attacker is heavy enough. He can lift maybe 3/5ths his weight in alt mode. In primary mode, he is a bit stronger in that a heavier bot may be pushed or lifted slightly using muscle and his ever-so-useful arms, but ultimately he isn't the strongest mech. If Bulkhead passed out on top of him, it would take a lot of effort to squeeze out from under him. If Bulkhead sat on him in alt mode, Skydive wouldn't have arms at all to push him with and an engine that couldn't lift the guy.
- Limited Creativity = At least, in the artistic sense. He likes art, but doesn't understand it. Similarly abstract concepts elude him. He can appreciate a pretty thing, but the wonderment a sunset brings some people is lost on him. He likes the colors, for instance, but he doesn't romanticize them. He doesn't like music very much, of any kind, but can tolerate most of it until it gives him a headache.
Special skills (that are not weapon related):
His Shadow System works on video and written material as well. Anything flight related. He could even imitate a bird if he had wings that moved like that. Written history and the like is more difficult in that the information being sent to the Shadow software is imagined in his mind as he reads. Tactics are similarly memorized. When it comes to things like reading people, learning how to properly pet a dog, or understanding mathematics (his software does calculations FOR him, he doesn't do them himself) he's average. He has a knack for taking accurate inventory and tolerating difficult bots.
Extra Info:
- He doesn't understand art, the purpose of philosophy, some philosophical concepts, or poetry very well. Some song lyrics may also pass over his head. He tries to solve mysteries like this with logic and analogies, but it usually doesn't work, and he ends up dismissing them so he doesn't have to think about them. An apple looks pretty next to an orange and a banana in a bowl, and he understands that someone might want something pretty hanging on a wall to look at, but he can't explain why it's pretty or what makes one painting better than any other. Poetry is nonsense (Rhyming is fun, but the other stuff is weird. That's it.). "Literature" is crap (a book is good or not. That's it.). Philosophy is the result of people thinking too much (There's real life, dreams, daydreams, and Shroom Vision. That's it. ) Occasionally, he'll encounter something that totally blows him away, but since he can't explain why, he simply saves a copy and puts it in his room to enjoy ignorantly.
- For some reason, heavy metal, screamo, and certain instruments/notes (particularly long-winded, whiny, repetitive notes) seem to mess with his Shadow System, causing processor aches that can make him moody.
- His High Grade Limit is literally 3 cubes. The first gets him relaxed and silly, the second gets him drunk, and the third gets him passed out. Normally, he only consumes what he needs, but he doesn't mind socializing with a cube in hand. As he gets tipsier and tipsier, he downs cubes faster and faster as he tries to get the systems that shorted out due to overenergizing back online...with more energy. Overall, he doesn't last long at the bar.
