....you know, she had mentioned you couldn't stockpile Happy Meals. Was anyone ever going to listen to her? Ever?
...But, she couldn't bring herself to be too angry with Steve. After being thumped half to death, or at least half to deafness, any kindness felt like a weight being taken off her chest so she could breathe again. She wondered if that was part of the plan. Good cop, bad cop. Stockholm Syndrome. Her parents, dangling approval juuuuuust out of her reach, just to laugh while they watched her jump.
I'm weak to it. I know that already. A trifle unsteadily, Soledad climbed down out of the branches that rattled around her, and went to the edge of her enclosure, pressing her hand against the glass.
Thoughts and work on a maze was put on the back ideas again as Steve came in. A new experiment could be done. And one that might be more interesting.
Steve came back and had 12 happy deals, or something like that. I would have to take more notes. This was a good start to the humans life. How nice to have help keeping her alive, Soledad may even live a vorn! What Starscream could find out I that time could be wonderful. Or if action picked up Starscream might miss out on his study of the human. That would be a waste but it would work.
Looking at Steve, Jeff, and Soledad and back to Steve thinking about what could happen Starscream went with the safest choice. “One of you feed her. I will take notes.”
Jeff's visor, upon hearing Starscream's words, immediately turned towards Steve, almost pleading. He wanted to see the human eat. Sure, he'd seen it on television but that was through a screen, and true, humans eating was gross. But the appeal was that the human could be something like a pet, albeit a very smart one. He liked pets.
But Steve was...well, he was Steve. Jeff considered him of higher rank, even if he wasn't, if only because he was 'older' than Jeff. He was something of an idol, too...And Steve had gotten the Happy Meals, so it stood to reason that he would be the one to - wait. He got twelve Happy Meals, and there was only one human.
"McDonald's has Pokemon collectibles in their Happy Meals," he stated, drone-like. It was a fact. It was fact because the commercials said it was so. If the human did not want or need all twelve toys, maybe he could have one too? Possessing a flying alt, he didn't get to check out human civilization in person much, much less get the chance to get a Happy Meal with pokemon in it. And Eradicons, in general, were sent out to do work. It was generally frowned upon when anyone left the Nemesis for a joy ride.
His head turned towards the human, ready to ask for a toy, but on the way his optics hit Starscream and he paused. Nevermind.
But Pokemon...he loved Pokemon! Excited at the prospect of getting his claws on some Pokemon Collectibles, (he could collect them all!) he nearly commed Everyone. But he stopped mid-mental-motion and closed the line. No. He wanted first choice. He could only hope Steve wouldn't come to the same conclusion and spill the beans. Then all the others would find some excuse to sit in and lay claim, Starscream present or not.

"McDonald's has Pokemon collectibles in their Happy Meals," said Jeff, apropos of nothing. Soledad's poor, abused ears perked up.
He's still excited about the Pokemon? ...God help me, he's adorable.
Soledad accepted the Happy Meal Jeff handed her with a grin of thanks, and went over to plop down by the tree to eat it. The bag was torn open and spread across her lap to protect her jeans, and before she attacked the cheeseburger or fries (a bit lukewarm by now, but still smelling pretty good), she went for the little plastic toy.
"Huh," she said aloud. "A Tentacool. Pretty cute." She turned it over in her hands, making a show of contemplating it, though she'd already made her decision. "But not really my favorite," she said, and waved the little hunk of plastic at Jeff. "Want it? Looks like the little tentacles move."
Watching the Soledad and Jeff was interesting. Starscream took notes down on his data pad. Hearing the talk Starscream once again had questions. But then being Starscream he would have questions or statements to say. He did talk a lot. “A pokemon? A Tentacool? What?”
Jeff watched with rapt attention as the human took the meal in her hands (not unlike a hamster) and went off to eat it. It was pretty cool. He could feel through the bag her grip, and while it was nothing compared to the power of hydraulics, it was there, he could feel it!
Humans were so big on television, he'd been surprised at her size. Now, he was surprised at her strength - they looked so much stronger on television, too! She didn't dress like a TV person, nor did she quite look like someone fit for television. She looked plain and miniscule.
It was probably the lack of make up. He wasn't into the fashion stuff like Stacy was, but there were plenty of commercials with big close ups of human females sporting enough face paint that their skin looked plastic.
He felt disappointment that real life humanity wasn't as...equivalent to his kind, like they seemed to be on screen. But there was something thrilling about discovering the truth, too.
"Tentacool?" Jeff asked, suddenly perking at the name. His claws twitched, and up she held a tiny figurine. He quivered with excitement.
This would be his first...collectable.
He reached out for it, almost in slow motion, but Starscream's croak ruined the moment. Jeff stared at his Commander - He doesn't know Pokemon?? - for a moment before realizing that the fictional multiverse mankind had created had likely eluded the upper Decepticon classes. What a shame, that such high and mighty staff couldn't bother themselves with the thralls of exploring the very cultures they sought to rule.
"Pokemon, sir, are a fictional collection of highly evolved organic animalistic creatures with questionably high intelligence that possess a wide range of elemental abilities. In the world of Pokemon, humanity exists alongside these creatures, the Pokemon themselves replacing the rest of the Animal Kingdom and prized as fighting companions and pets. They're really popular with a lot of young humans these days! This is a Tentacool!"
He took the tiny figurine from the girl and held it out for Starscream to see, his thumb manipulating the little plastic tentacles so they wiggled.
"He's a water type, and poisonous. He's also Gen 1 - very common, but by far the most beloved set. The whole point of a Pokemon trainer in the series - a person who goes out and catches and battles Pokemon with other trainers - is to catch the strongest Pokemon and assemble a team to defeat all teams. But there's more! To be the ultimate trainer - and loyal fan, at that - is to collect every single Pokemon there is!"
Jeff finished his babble with a rather Ash-like fist pump, adding, "And I'm starting with THIS one!"
His words seemed to echo in the dark, dull room and he was suddenly reminded of just where he was and who he was talking to.

Yep. Definitely adorable. Soledad muffled a squeak of amusement behind her hands, trying not to kill Jeff's enthusiasm by laughing at him. Boys could be so sensitive about that.
"That's the spirit," she said aloud, grinning at him broadly, forgetting about lunch for the moment. "Look, there's twelve Happy Meals, right? That means we get six Pokemon each. That's a full team!" She peeked hopefully through the glass at the rest of the Happy Meals Steve had brought. "Pass them over, okay? I have smaller hands-" she held up her own hands to demonstrate - "I can get them out of the plastic for you, then we can divide them up between us."
She bounced, just a little, on her heels, feeling a little like a kid on Christmas. ....Surrounded by giant robots one of whom was keeping her in a box and muttering about mazes. God, her life was so weird.
Hearing Jeff explain Pokemon and the world, a world made up by humans, was a real insight. Eradicons had changed so much since they had been created by the Deceptions. They really were self-aware and with a full working processor. It seems this Eradicon, Jeff, liked Pokemon. A lot. Starscream did not care for the world Jeff talked about, it seemed similar in ways to life being lived but that was what Jeff liked and knowing this might help Starscream later. He just was not sure how yet.
With a nod or a hum here and there Starscream was quite for the explanation. The Seeker’s wings moved a good deal as well, a slow and wide range, half in thought and half to feel the movement. When Jeff showed the toy to Starscream he took the toy a short time and examined it. After Starscream handed the poisonous, water-based, g1 Tentacool back. The fist-pump Starscream re-loaded his optics a few times. Yes Jeff was really into this world.
“Good to know, Jeff. How did you learn all this again?” Starscream might need to study it as well.
Looking at the human now Starscream looked at the happy meals and back to the human, happy meals, human, to Jeff. He did seem to also enjoy feeding the human. Why not let him, it was not like Starscream wanted to feed it, looking and taking notes on the data pad was going well.
As he watched with dread as Starscream's mental cogs turned, Soledad's words surprised Jeff into looking at her. She seemed amused, but she was being nice. With some thought, he fount it strange she would be nice to him, he being a big and terrible evil robot captor. She shouldn't be sharing her toys with him, really. But if she was offering despite her situation who was he to refuse? He wondered if he'd be considered fraternizing with the indigenous Earth wildlife if he accepted her toys...but they were Pokemon! They were going to be proudly displayed over his berth.
Starscream's words shifted his attention again and Jeff stared in shock at his commander.
"Uh...Uh. We're plugged into the 'net all the time, sir," he replied softly in his surprise. "I don't remember who found it first, but after Pokemon was discovered it became a hit. We just watch the show, and keep up to date on the games and toys, sir."
Risking turning back to the human (it wasn't a good idea to turn away from a superior officer without permission), Jeff almost told her he'd really like the toys. But he wouldn't be able to accept them unless they were alone. Maybe he could be a guard here, and her things about the Important Stuff he couldn't really understand about human culture. So, instead he said, "Sir, I could keep guard over her. Like, keep an eye on her. Humans are smart, sir, she might escape."

Ignored. Again. Though Jeff had seemed to turn toward her and hesitate a bit before turning back to Starscream.
...Come to think of it, maybe Starscream was the problem. Were they not allowed to talk to anyone else while Starscream was in the room, or something? It would fit with the gravity-bendingly giant ego her captor had displayed. All the more reason for Starscream to go away. Without his interference, who knew - she might start getting some actual answers.
The threat of a guard worried her, but just a little. Even giant robots from (she assumed) outer space had to sleep sometime, and she couldn't stay here until something killed her for Starscream's amusement. She wanted to talk to Jeff, but sooner or later she would have to find a way to escape.
Hell, maybe she could trade those other six Pokemon toys for a quick trip out of here. Who knew. Stifling a smile, she went back to her lunch and started eating - by now it'd gotten somewhat lukewarm, but food was food.
After Jeff talked about the internet Starscream tried to plug in and found it easy and fast. Starscream first did a search for Pokémon. When so many hits came up Starscream’s optics widened and his wings flared out the Seeker closed the connection and then reopened the internet making sure to do no searches for Pokémon.
Starscream did a few other searches and found this internet very interesting. Not near what was at home or even on the ship but still interesting.
Jeff talking had Starscream focus on the Eradicon. As Jeff talked Starscream looked at the human. “The human can get out of the cage?” There was a thoughtful pause. “You may watch her and if she does get out be sure to see how, the time it takes, and what she used, also any other needed details. After get the human, Soledad? And put her back in something and come find me. If need be kill her.”
(I will think of a reason for Starscream to leave so Soledad and Jeff can talk for a bit. XD )
Jeff blinked, then cheered held back an undignified squee.
"Yes, sir. She won't be leaving this ship, sir!"
He held back a salute and took a few steps so he was to the right of Soledad's cage. He settled into a rather guardly posture and stood there, making it to he could see the lab doors and Soledad at once.
He didn't want to have to kill the human, but he couldn't let her escape either. His life could be on the line. Hopefully, she'd take Starscream's words to spark and not try anything foolish.
((I didn't mean to say For Realz that Starscream should leave. I mean, if you want to, that's cool too! Just! Agh didn't mean to be rude! It wasn't me it was my character! *fails*))
Did he just...?
And did Jeff just say...?
Soledad put down her half-eaten burger and scooted it away from her. Suddenly she wasn't hungry anymore. Not that she could swallow past the hard, dry lump in her throat.
Who are these - people? And... why me?
She still had no intention of dying of neglect at the clawed hands of Starscream. But she didn't want her only choice to be between that and 'get killed for trying to escape.'
((ooc: Oh don’t worry! <3 We are kind of going to in a circle right now and it would be fun for Jeff to talk to Soledad before Shadow comes in making Starscream all crazy on tests and such. ^_^))
Searching the internet still with half his processor Starscream found a picture of Bumblebee. Really?! The humans knew of the visitors? No the writing with it was about the car and a high end car. How funny they had no idea the picture they had.
This picture had Starscream thinking however. He should be leader and when he was those Autobots would be gone, off-lined for good in short order. Megatron was….the data pad.
Starscream went over to check the date pad Steve had brought before all this started with the human, sub-spacing the other he had been using. Distantly noting Jeff was guarding and looked strangely happy Starscream gave a half ‘hum’ of acknowledgment and left.
It wasn't very long until Starscream seemed to lose interest in the human. He looked distracted, then he took up the data pad Steve brought in. Soon after, the lanky SIC left the room with only a tiny thoughtful sound.
Jeff relaxed, a little confused but relieved to find himself out of an officer's presence. They were scary, the lot of them, because they were mostly unpredictable. A Vehicon wasn't a real bot around here, never was, so it wasn't always clear whether he'd survive an encounter with an Officer or not. Luckily, despite his panicky insubordination, Starscream had been too withdrawn to lash out - or, as it was possible, he just didn't feel like it.
Finally, the silence of the room descended on him and Jeff wondered if he could get away with talking to the human. It was tempting. She knew Things. Important Things.
He debated with himself until his head hurt, which wasn't really that long. Finally deciding it was worth the risk, he turned to the captive, visor bright with hope.
He ended up staring for a moment as he figured out what he wanted to say.
"Uh...Hi. I'm Jeff," he began awkwardly, but quickly he bull dozed towards the prize. "So...did you mean it? I could have half the collectibles?"
