Introduction

Welcome! In this section you will find the answers to some questions that seem to pop up from time to time, or just are common themes across many forum RPs. Whether you are a new or prospective player, or have been around our C-Box for a while, you should be able to find what you need down below. Some of the information repeats itself, and is listed on other pages, but that’s usually because its critical enough to have in several places.

Setting

When/Where does this RP take place?
The setting for this RP is the Transformers: Prime cartoon series picking up after the episode "Crisscross" (Season 1, Episode 17). For ease of technological and overall reference, all events on the board are placed on a mostly "present-day" timeline as well. Also, because there is sometimes a lack of background information on non-Prime characters, we also take some information from Hasbro's Aligned Timeline.

So, I can only use Prime/Aligned information?
Not at all! We welcome any canon characters as well as any original characters, no matter the continuity! All that we ask is that they are loosely adapted to fit within both the TF Prime continuity and our existing game attributes.

But I don't know anything about the Prime/Aligned universe?
That is okay! You don't need to watch the cartoon, although it is a great series and we highly recommend it just for entertainment purposes. But leafing through the TF Prime Wiki will probably give you the basic information to get started.

Getting Started

I can't join! My account request won't go through!
You will not be able to make a forum account until your first character has been approved. Should you need to ask a question, we have the 'Ask an Admin' section on the board, Cbox, email, or a guest area in the Discord to do so (Please email us for a link to the Discord).

I'm ready to create a character! What now?
Great! The Character Creation process starts HERE, with the Blank Character Sheet. Once you have filled out the application, please email it with the text inline (no attachments, or googledocs please unless it is character art) to the Admins and wait for their response & feedback.

Before submitting a character, please read The RULES—this is mandatory. We also recommend reviewing other sections for additional guidance. To better understand our expectations, consider looking at a few approved character profiles.

Yes, it may seem like a lot of reading, but remember: this is a literate, intermediate-and-higher board.

I can't find the answer to the Secret Question!
The answer is there, we promise. However, speed-reading, skim-reading, or not reading at all will not help you. Go through the rules carefully and pay attention to everything. Blindly guessing the answer will result in us not looking at your application until it is correct.

What factions/races are there in the game?
We accept Cybertronians and humans both. Currently, Cybertronians in the game can be Autobots, Decepticons, or Neutrals. Humans can be civilians, or belong to those under the command of Agent Fowler in NEST.

What about Predacons and Insecticons? What about Dinobots or Maximals?
We’re not accepting applications for Cybertronians with animal or animal-like alt-modes, except for cassettes. Please review the information on cassettes located HERE before trying to find any loopholes.

Will you be doing Relics and things from seasons 2 and 3?
Currently, the answer is no; we have no plans to add them into play. The Admins may reconsider for plot reasons in the future, but for now, as a TFP AU, we will only introduce new elements if they fit seamlessly with our existing game.

Which TF: Prime characters can be played?
The list of currently available (and much wanted!) TF:Prime characters is HERE!

Can I be a non TF:Prime canon character?
Of course! If we only allowed characters from the show, we wouldn't be much of an RP Forum to begin with! We accept characters from all continuities, should they find a way to fit into the TFP Universe.

Can I make an OC?
Absolutely! Submit them like any other character, however, be mindful of the Mary Sue dangers: you cannot make them Prime's long lost daughter/love/brother destined to be the next Prime and have Megatron fall in love with them, for example. If you want to have a preexisting connection with another character, be sure to clear it with their player. You may NOT connect OCs to any canon characters that are not in play, as this ties future players to this and is not fair.

Can I be a Vehicon Trooper?
Yes, actually! We'd love to see the Decepticon red-shirt army become a PC army for our RP. Refer HERE to read up on some history and view the template so they are all the same in terms of frame and weaponry, as they are effectively clones of one another.

Can I be a human?
Yep! We have plenty of openings for civilians, but also encourage those associated with NEST under Agent Fowler. The majority of humans will be aligned with the Autobots. Canon humans do not count against the character limit, however OC humans do.

I’d like to play a Canon Character but what's this "Adoption" thing about?
If a canon character is up for adoption, it means they have some history within the game that has been established as board canon due to a prior player. The Admins will let you know during the review process just what this history is, and can assist with adapting it to your take on the character.

Please don’t be intimidated by an existing history. See it as a character having an established place among other characters, which will likely make getting involved in the game a much smoother and easier process.

I don't know what I want to play! Help!
We have a list of Wanted Characters HERE where existing players put up requests for either canon or OC-ideas they'd like to see taken up/created to interact with. You can also check out the Census area located HERE. This can show you what we may be low on, and help inspire something.

OK, I've emailed my application! Now what?
Now, you must be patient! We like to have at least three staff review each application, and due to real life getting in the way sometimes, feedback may take longer than expected. We aim to respond quickly, but constant follow-ups or assuming approval before it's official only delays things.

What if you’re not happy with my application/character?
Very rarely is an application passed the first time! Most of the time tweaks are small - in that we ask for elaboration on some abilities, a clarification in the history, or simply need a few more weaknesses to be added. A common request is to have a height listed compared to a canon character already in play.

Remember, the application process is about both sides evaluating fit. While we assess your suitability, you should also consider if we match your RP style. There are many Transformers RPGs, and if we’re not the right fit, another group might be your ideal RP home!

There are no Stats in your application form; how do you do combat?
We are NOT a stat-based game, simply because we are not a combat-heavy game. Please do not include numerical statistics in your application. Combat, in both actions and consequences, is usually agreed upon by all Players involved at the time of play.

Godmodding, metagaming, auto-hitting, and power-playing are not allowed. You can only control your own character's actions in a fight unless otherwise agreed. Coordinate with other players to decide on damage taken/inflicted. Characters can only be killed with the Player's permission or if abandoned by a departing player.

I just got approved! Now what?
Congratulations and welcome! Now you may create an account for the forum using the invite code that is sent upon approval. Using this code, sign up with your character name, where it will be accepted as soon as an Admin sees it. From there, you just need to post your profile to the correct character board - be sure to take out the secret question/answer from your profile, the RP sample, as well as your age & email should you wish. Then it's simply a case of roleplaying and having fun!

This brings us to…

About Gameplay

Your rating says you’re PG-13-ish. What kind of limits on content do you have?
For starters, we require all our Players to be at least thirteen(13) years old. We also abide by the Proboard rules and ToS. We do not permit sexually explicit scenes for any character, and outright ban overt gore or excessive violence toward humans. When it comes to Cybertronians, we are more lax on this ruling, simply because they are robots.

I'm concerned about missing Activity Checks. How do I avoid getting in trouble?
We understand that there are times when real life pulls us away from hobbies, leaving us little time to write. We have a Hiatus section in the Discord where players can let people know if they need to step away for a short period, and even if we do not ask for specifics, encourage people to communicate there.

We like to think our posting requirements are open enough to the point people can keep up, and expect players to actively pursue threads and mini-plots of their own with others.

How will I know what threads I'm in?
There are several ways to check. While logged in, there is a 'Participated' button in the top right, which shows active threads. The bottom right of the page also has another menu where you can see at a glance all your characters at once, with a notification of new posts. Proboards also has the option to send email notifications per character should a thread they're in be replied to.

Noooo, I just lost my entire post while I was typing! Help!
This has happened to us all at least once, and unfortunately, there is nothing to be done once a post is lost. We suggest using something like Notepad, Word, or a Google doc to write in. However, there is an option to enable drafts on Proboards, which autosaves periodically. This is per character, meaning you will have to go through these steps multiple times should you want to enable it on everyone.

• Go to Profile
• Click the 'Edit Profile', up on the right-hand corner, just below the tabs
• Go to Settings
• Scroll down until you find the option to 'Enable Drafts' and change it to 'Yes'.

My character isn't working out, what do I do?
The first and most critical rule of RP is - if it isn't fun? Stop!

Sometimes it happens, a character just doesn't click with your expectations of them. If a character, OC or canon, stops being fun or feels incompatible to the point it's more stressful than enjoyable? It's perfectly okay to drop them from active play.

Now, here is the more technical answer to this question:

If you have an OC, it's considered courteous to write them out of their threads wherever possible, but it's not obligatory. If you want, they can become MECH bait, or simply fade into the background.

If you have a canon, be it Prime or non-Prime, please bear in mind that killing them off is unlikely, as it is unfair to future players who may want to pick them up. They'll go right back onto the wanted character list, so you don't have to worry about it.

What is this Episode thing?
We're basing this game off the TV series so generally we like playing our plots like an episode. Major Admin/player-coordinated plots will start with a crisis and we play our character through that crisis to whatever end. More information can be found HERE.

There’s a lot here, where do I start?
Start with the Getting Started page HERE for rules and important info. While you do this, feel free to check out the C-Box on the left side of the site and say hello!

The information pages cover specialty types like minicons, cassettes, and spark twins, as well as cultural aspects such as the caste system and spark bonds. For application guidance, peek at the approved character profiles in the Existing Characters section to see what we are looking for!

I didn't find my question here. What do I do?
The C-Box is always open so don't be shy to ask questions in there. We take pride in our Players being friendly and helpful, and if they don't happen to know an answer? They know how to cast Summon Admin to get a member of staff to assist!

You can also email us, or leave your question in the Ask an Admin board located HERE. We also have a guest area in our Discord that is linked in the rules.

If you are an existing player who has a suggestion for a question/answer to be added, then please reach out to Zercon with it! We always welcome helpful, polite input.
